I conducted on a daily basis field research, and led direct observation, surveys, depth and focus group interviews of the populace, civil society, educators, key leaders; and secondary source research: open source, and mixed method approaches on disabled children, the rights of women and children, socio-cultural perspective of the populace with regards to security issues, social, economic, and political relations with NATO and ISAF. I wrote briefs and papers on short and long term analysis based on diverse research methodologies, to include quantitative and qualitative analysis. I created research designs and plans on infrastructure and the peace process and the reintegration and reconciliation, managed with an overall vision for the command to understand the operational environment of the AO to help with the decision making process of NATO, ISAF, and the DOD. I networked with the intelligence community to create MAPHT products. I designed protocols, reviewed and adjusted the final form of all deliverables and intelligence products to fill in intelligence gaps regarding the peace process. I planned, designed, and authorized highly complex research projects to provide a framework for collection and analysis on the reintegration and reconciliation process.

I do operationally relevant research based on the MDMP process. I briefed the NATO Turk General at the Regional Command Center in Kabul, Afghanistan who had just returned from the Peace Jirga. He discussed the women speakers and asked what kind of information that HTS could provide. I discussed with the team and then developed a research design, plan, and collection strategy on the infrastructure and the peace process, women’s rights issues, and reintegration and the reconciliation process. I did open source and multi-source analysis, made assessments and recommendations on future socio-culture, political, and economic research based on surveys, depth and focus group interviews of the community and key leader engagements to develop recommendations of organizations and conflict resolution methods for the area of operation by districts and to provide a vision for the General, NATO, ISAF, and DOD for future decision-making and strategies. The team presented papers at a women’s rights conference and a business development conference based on the groups open source research and surveys. I created 79 slide brief on infrastructure and the peace process based on multi-source and open source research and networking with the intelligence community; I wrote a 100 page paper on the reintegration and reconciliation process with recommendations for future socio-cultural research, assessments, and analysis.

I conducted a variety of tactical maneuvers in personal protective gear, entered and exited the MRAP. I experienced diverse weather conditions, temperatures, and sandstorms. I traversed rough and uneven terrain, endured a hostile environment: protestors, IED explosions, NATO soldiers were killed, and security alerts. I worked with little sleep and long hours with physically and mentally challenging projects on NATO missions. I travelled extended distances by foot, military ground vehicles, and helicopters. I exercise daily for physical fitness. I carried 40 to 75 pounds of gear and personal protective equipment for 12 hours.
