Communication Skills:
Growing up in the Philippines where the American army stayed for more than 50 years, English has been a part of our second daily communication language. My learning has been even better with the help of our Latter-Day-Saint missionaries as we work with them. Then when I transferred to Belgium, I had to learn French intensively because not a lot of Belgians were speaking English during that time (1997). French is the spoken language at home. Though I’m a quiet person, I speak when I’m spoken to. I am sociable and can easily adapt to my environment.
Working at Pullman hotel helped me better my personality. I like that client – employee exchanges and working with my colleagues as a team. It taught me how listen and be resilient in any kind of situation.
As a dining room Receptionist at the Asian Development Bank, I worked with people (Diplomats) coming from around the world. Interacting and communicating have never been a problem for me as we were using English as the Bank’s official language.
During my internships, when contacting food suppliers by phone, I learned how to negotiate product prices. Compare which of the suppliers offer the best quality and price of the product before ordering.
