I am proficient in reading Structural, Site, Architectural, Mechanical, and Electrical plans. I have been a Superintendent for over 30 years. My experience ranges from low rise ground ups, tenant improvements, restaurants, retail, and hotel renovation.

I have a keen sense for the most advantageous sequencing to complete projects. Establishing and maintaining rapport with owners, inspectors, co-workers, and subcontractors is one of my stronger attributes.

Respect for others and an understanding of the task at hand are essential for effective leadership. Communication, documentation, adherence to plans & specifications, and following schedules are skills needed for a successful project. I have received numerous awards during my career, including a Commendation from The Department of the Army for delivering swing space during the Pentagon remodel.

I have training certificates in:

OSHA Safety Courses Mobile Crane Safety Lead Abatement

Asbestos Abatement Water Intrusion Mold remediation

Fall Protection Working in Confined Spaces First Aid & CPR

QC For Contractors (conducted by Army Corps of Engineers)

Recent Employment

In June, 2021, through November, 2022, I returned to HITT Contracting for two projects in Saint Louis, MO. The first project was a joint venture where HITT and McCarthy constructed a 500,000 square foot ground up for the National Geospace Agency. I worked hand in hand with GSA and the Army Corps of Engineers as a QC Specialist. My area of work was framing, caulking and sealants, paint, drywall, and RF shielding. The standard process for each discipline was to conduct Preparatory Meetings, review on-site mock up samples, and conduct progress inspections. This work was performed in concert with GSA and the Army Corps of Engineers.

In April of 2022 I began the second project for GSA in Saint Louis (HITT was the GC). This was downtown at One Metro Center fitting out seven floors for the Department of Agriculture. I was the lead superintendent.

Employment History

January, 2021 to May, 2021 Superintendent, PWI Contractors

During this time period I joined PWI’s team constructing a new Ritz Carlton Resort in Paradise Valley, Arizona. Paradise Valley is a township next to Scottsdale, Arizona. I was hired as a superintendent and had planned to make Scottsdale my home. HITT contacted me and asked if I would work in Saint Louis for them. I have a long standing relationship with Steve Ferrari, a VP at HITT, and I accepted his offer.

May, 2017 to Sept, 2020 Sr. Superintendent, Continental Contractors Incorporated

My work with CCI was typically on projects that required a skill set beyond rooms renovation. My last hotel was at the JW Marriott in San Mateo, CA. This hotel had 3 towers. The sewer main ran down the center of the corridors, 5’ to 9’ below slab. The sewer main was collapsing and had to be replaced along with the sewer laterals running back to the risers serving the guest rooms. Our challenge was completing the ground work in sequence with room completions.

June, 2008 to April, 2017 Superintendent, Digney York & Associates

DYI was my first employer that solely worked in hotel renovation. Due to my construction background, I was assigned to projects that required structural modifications, site improvements, and common area remodeling. The Sheraton in downtown Dallas (my second hotel project) had a very aggressive schedule. We had 12 floors under construction at any given time and returned a floor every 2 days. We completed the 1,350 rooms on schedule. All “go-back” work and punch were “signed off” the day after scheduled completion.

Following is a sample of hotels remodeled under my supervision:

The Ritz Carlton, Tyson’s Corner, VA JW Marriott Resort and Spa, Palm Desert, CA

Marriott Marquis Marina, San Diego, CA Even Hotel, Rockville, MD

JW Marriott at Grand Lakes, Orlando, FL Sheraton Hotel Downtown, Dallas, TX

Marriott Suites in Old Town, Scottsdale, AZ JW Marriott Union Square, San Francisco, CA

Manchester Grand Hyatt, San Diego, CA JW Marriott at the Galleria, Houston, TX

April 2007 to May 2008 Superintendent, Hitt Contracting

Hitt employed roughly 120 superintendents. They were ranked number three in the Washington DC metro area and grossed over $250,000,000 per year. During that time I worked in their Government Contracts division. I constructed a ground up blast resistant mail/package intake facility and Security station for the British Embassy. The World Bank was a client that I completed three projects in two of their buildings.

1996 to 2007 Superintendent, Charles E Smith Companies

Smith was a multi-faceted company that developed and managed commercial and residential high-rise buildings in the Washington DC metro area. I was a superintendent in their commercial construction division responsible for outside clients and government tenants. Projects included work for The Defense Intelligence Agency, US Patent and Trade offices, National Institute of Health, Bank of America, The Navy Seabees, and The Army Corps of Engineers. My last project with Smith; I was on the Quality Control Team for a joint project with NIH and John Hopkins. This was a 500,000 sq. Ft. Ground up on the John Hopkins campus in Baltimore, MD. My task was reviewing on site work and reporting non-compliance issues to the onsite Architect.
