The hospital has Paediatric Units, General ICU and Cardiac ICU, Isolation Unit

and A& E.

The Medical ICU is a 12-bedded unit

( 2 Burns Isolation Beds ) Staff comprise of 2 Ward Sisters, 45 Staff

Nurses covering both day and night shifts.

The Medical Intensive Care Unit caters for the major Medical patients in the southern area of

India. Each patient is nursed in individual Cubicle with adherence to strict

isolation policies. Each room is fully equipped to provide for high dependency

patients. The unit does not cater for intubated / ventilated patients . Procedures performed at ward level include...

Intubation and Mechanical Ventilation, pre and post

operative care of patients, post skin grafting, Management of COPD, CLD, Anemia,CKD, ECMO patients etc.

The Haematology Unit (5 beds ) caters for acute leukaemia patients of adult age

only i.e. over 5 years. The majority of these patients undergo aggressive

chemotherapy regimes in preparation for Bone Marrow transplantation. The

hospital performs the Autolobous Bone Marrow transplants only.

The majority of patients have Hickman lines inserted during their treatment,

for administration of chemotherapy, IV therapies and blood products. Strict

isolation is adhered to at all times due to the patient becoming extremely

immuno-comprised.

Patients for Allogenic Bone Marrow Transplant undergo their chemotherapy

and work-up in the ward but are then transferred to another hospital for

transplantation.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Assessing, planning and implementing nursing care of

acute and chronic medical illnessed patients.

Providing nursing care and support to patients who needs intubation and mechanical ventilation, CVP and Arteial line insertion, NIV support, Hemodialysis etc.

Nursing care of patients in Terminal Illnesses like ESRD, CLD, COPD, Auto Immune diseases, etc.

Nursing care of patients pre- and post-debridement and skin grafting

of major burns.

Education of patients and relatives regarding their illness.

Maintaining strict isolation nursing for all patients in adherence with

ward policy.

Assisting in the management of the ward in conjunction with the ward

sister.
