I have been in education for 38 years; two as a business education teacher and 36 as a school administrator. My goal, after receiving my degree, was to be in school administration. I wanted to be able to, with my administrative decision making, be able to affect all students in the district.

EXPERIENCES

• Operations and Financial Administrator

• Grant Writing Including State & Federal

• Human Resource Generalist

• Employee Management/Supervision-Evaluations

• Working with Multiple Individuals on School Boards and the Community

• School Administrator in both Private and Public Schools. As Financial Manager, I was in charge of developing the school budget to meet the State of Illinois’ requirements, as well as the school board members I were working with. I was responsible for multi-million dollar budgets; including Local, State, and Federal, as well as calculating and receiving Taxes. The State of Illinois and our Federal Government required Grant Writing to secure money to keep our school district flourishing and viable for our students and staff. These included; curriculum purchases, teacher salaries and benefits, maintenance and food purchases, and custodial supplies.

My Human Resource Department experiences varied. As the Human Resource Generalist, I was responsible for Employee Management that included advertising, screening, interviewing, and selecting employees - both certified and non-certified. I was also responsible for evaluating the work of other School Administrators, Accounting Department, Assistant to the Superintendent’s Secretary, and the Main Office. I worked very closely with our accounting department as it was my responsibility to review our revenues and operations expenditures on a daily basis. School Boards are critical to the success of any school district. They are responsible for the district’s operations guidance. I had to understand their philosophies to establish myself as a successful school administrator. I sent out weekly reports and made phone calls when deemed necessary. My reports and presentations had to be clear and concise and I had to be prepared to take questions from the school board and/or visitors in attendance at our school board meetings. Finally, I have had the experience of working in Public and Private School Districts. Each of the districts are financially operated by different means. A private school, was not able to rely on State or Federal dollars as public schools. It was the responsibility of a team of grant writers, including myself, to write professional grant requests to our consistent and identified donors. Within the grant, it was my responsibility to sell the opportunities our school had to offer the students. WORK EXPERIENCE - FROM MOST RECENT
