DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Worked at Operation Theater. (Lanka hospitals Corporation PLC, Narahenpita, Sri Lanka Feb 2018 - Oct 2018)

• Assess patients prior to surgery and alleviate their concerns.

• Gather all supplies needed for the operation.

• Assume responsibility of keeping the operating room sterilized.

• Position and prepare patient on operating table.

• Pass medical instruments or other objects to the surgeon during operation.

• Monitor patient’s vital signs to detect anomalies.

• Evaluate patient in post-operative phases.

• Adhere to safety standards and precautions.

• Assume duties within or out of the sterile field as assigned. 2. Worked as a Radiology Nurse at Radiology Department (UH-KDU, Werahara, Sri Lanka 2018 April– 2022 December)

• Assist the patients who are undergoing with CECT, CTPA, and MRI procedure.

• Assist patients for USS guided Scan, Liver Biopsy, Aspiration procedures, FNAC, HSG Procedures.

• During the COVID pandemic, contributed time and strength to nurse the COVID positive patients. 3. Psychiatric ward. (UH-KDU Werahara, Sri Lanka)

• Coordinate the care of patients.

• Inserting intravenous cannulae, Naso - Gastric tubes and In- dwelling urinary catheters

• Providing nutritional support via Naso – Gastric tube and PEG tube

• Drawing blood samples for investigation and venous blood gas and labelling them

• Taking blood and urine samples for cultures

• Drawing blood samples for grouping and DT for blood transfusion

• Transfusing blood and blood products

• Taking ECG/EKG (Electro cardiogram)

• Applying wound dressing

• Maintaining records like QHT, Observation charts, head injury observation charts (HIOC), blood sugar monitoring charts, dengue monitoring charts, pain assessment chart and risk assessment forms like Morse falls risk and Braden skin assessment.

• Preforming patient admission and discharge criteria

• Maintaining Date and Night Reports, Mid-Day, Mid night report, Nurses Handing over Taking over Reports

• Providing Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

• Providing health education

• Insulin therapy

• Connecting patient to continues cardiac monitoring and to mobile ventilator

• Oxygen therapy

• Thrombolizing the patient

• Administering snake anti venom serum
