I am a Highly Skilled, Dedicated and Motivated Certified and Registered Sterile processing professional with a sound knowledge of Hospital policies and procedures in relation to patient safety, as well as extensive training in patient safety and infection control practices within the hospital settings, seeking employment as a Sterile Processing Technician where I can utilize my strong and remarkable experience in Performing and participation in Decontaminating, cleaning, assembling,,packaging, scanning,sterilizing, storage and Distribution of reusable surgical instruments and equipment. RELEVANT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Decontamination of instruments and equipment based on manufactures instructions.

• Uses personal protective equipment and techniques at all times

• Ensure items are decontaminated properly upon arrival according to the manufacturer’s instructions for use.

• Receives and inventory loaner instruments and equipment following established procedures.

• Washes, organizes and sterilizes instruments

• Uses instrument tracking system accurately and consistently.

• Restocks work area with needed supplies and chemicals on a daily basis.

• Ensures the decontamination area is clean and organized

• Assembles and packages instrument trays, individual instruments, equipment, linen packs and supply items.

• Wears appropriate apparel in the sterile environment (MEDVAMC scrubs, bouffant hat, cover jacket, facial hair covering if needed)

• Responsible for precise assembling of instrument trays, according to count sheet and AAMI standards

• Ensures trays and packs are complete by taking the initiative to locate missing items as well as communicating to the Project Manager (PM) and Contracting Officer Representative (COR)

• Communicate with COR and PM regarding missing instruments or need for changes to the count sheet

• Inspect linen prior to packaging; make sure that linen is not defective in any way including being dirty or having any lint or holes on/in it.

• Use instrument tracking system accurately and consistently.

• Perform 2nd checks on assembled trays for quality assurance.

• Restock work area with needed supplies on a daily basis

• Make sure preparation are is clean and organized

• Operates sterilizers and monitors sterilization parameter

• Notify lead technician or SPS supervisor of any concerns

• Monitor sterilization gauges, print- outs, charts, tapes and biological/chemical indicators to ensure that adequate sterilization parameters have been met

• Ensure guidelines for testing all sterilization equipment and results are recorded accurately and completely

• Accurately document all sterilizer quality control records

• Demonstrate appropriate product recall when necessary

• Ensure that sterilizers and sterilizer carts are maintained, clean and in working order.

• Prepare carts needed for scheduled Operating Room (OR) cases for the following day, add- on cases, and emergency requests.

• Perform inventory and restock duties in the sterile core instrument storage area

• Reprocesses endoscopic equipment according to manufactures instructions.

• Perform pick- up and delivery operations throughout the facility

• Maintains Cidex, Automatic Endoscope Preprocessor (AER), Cleaning and Equipment Repair log books

• Display teamwork and initiative to ensure that all departmental needs and responsibilities are completed in a timely manner.

• Use time constructively to attend to departmental needs and non- routine tasks

• Foster an environment of learning and teaching. Stays curious; asks questions and uses standards to find and give answers

• Support and participate in the continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of services provided

• Understand and complies with infection control, safety and OSHA procedures and regulations

• Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately report any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the appropriate department

WORK HISTORY

I studied at Fortis Institute in Houston Texas with a Diploma as a Sterile Processing Technician. Presently I work at Houston Northwest Medical Center as a Certified and Registered Sterile Processing Technician since February 2013 where my experience as a sterile processing Technician resulted in ensuring the safety and well being of Patients and employees in preventing hospital acquired infections was/is my top Priority. Guy’s and St Thomas Hospital (NHS), London, United Kingdom (December 2010 to January 2013) as a Sterile Processing Technician where I was able to operate, troubleshoot, and train new employees on the use of Autoclaves, Steam Sterilizers, Sterrad. Washer/Decontaminator and Sonic Washers.

Key Achievement: I Identified new ways of ensuring that instruments are properly cleaned,by insisting and encouraging management of the need to have the necessary training for employees to ensure that sterile technicians in the department follow evidence based guidelines for proper sterilization which led to a drastic reduction in hospital acquired infections in the facility. and also Sterile Tech processing employees can avoid misidentifying instruments by training, referring to available pictures of the instrument and checking the manufactures code on the instrument if available.
