TRAINING COURSES ON AGRICULTURAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

INVITATION FOR APPLICATION

Are you a youth with an interest in developing agricultural skills and creating employment for yourself? You can enrol now in series of trainings on agricultural skills development. The Gambia National Agricultural Research Institute (NARI) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) are partnering to create a new generation of young agricultural entrepreneurs. NARI invites interested candidates to apply to undergo four month’s training in the following areas:

Quality seed production of selected climate smart crop varieties

Crop cultivation techniques

Water conservation techniques

Organic fertilizer production techniques

Agroforestry techniques

Agribusiness plan development

The trainings will start from 1stOctober, 2023 to 30th January, 2024. Twenty trainees will be recruited in each of the six areas stated above. Certified seed production component will be conducted in Sapu, Central River Region. Crop cultivation techniques, Water conservation techniques, organic fertilizer production techniques, Agroforestry and Agribusiness plan development will be conducted at NARI’s satellite station in Yundum, West coast region. Female candidates are encouraged to apply. The aim of the trainings is to equip youths with agricultural skills to enhance their livelihoods. Selection Criteria

Applicant must be Gambian citizen

Aged between 15 and 35 years

Be able to read and write in English

Have access to production land

Must be involved in agriculture

Demonstrate willingness to stay in or around the training venues Application Format
