Position Summary

The Retail Service Specialist (RSS) is a dynamic role that creates a positive customer experience while delivering executional excellence throughout the organization. This critical role performs various field positions to include sales, in-store demonstrations, customer service, merchandising, store appearance and operations in one or more retail locations. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, flexible, ambitious and driven to succeed.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Job Duty

Product Demonstrations:

Set up/break down materials and/or product; perform demonstration events.

Generates excitement, brand awareness, and increased product sales through conducting event demonstrations.

Engage customers in a professional and memorable manner. Promote the product being featured through education, use of the product, demonstration of the features and benefits, and/or distribution of product samples.

Responsible for preparing, maintaining, and cleaning the demonstration area. Must ensure the area is in a manner that is inviting, clean, safe, organized, and set up according to instructions provided; and where necessary, in compliance with food safety requirements and regulations.

While in-store, study product materials to develop product knowledge and any necessary skills for product usage. Review and practice the sales pitch/promotional script provided in the Event materials.

Merchandising:

Performs various projects and functions at assigned retail locations such as merchandising, conducting resets, set and maintain schematic standards.

Must be able to maintain schematic integrity through consistent communication with Retail Supervisor and other retail personnel.

Meet client and company objectives by maintaining full distribution on existing SKUs.

Follow direction regarding tagging, rotating, and placing POS materials for products on shelf.

Sales/Customer Relations:

Develop positive relationships with store management and foster good will by consistently meeting or exceeding engagement expectations and sales expectations (if and as applicable) and fostering customer goodwill.

Responsible for reporting of, servicing, and selling to retail accounts within an assigned territory to ensure client and customer standards are met and volume is increased.

Seek sales opportunities in departments throughout the store and other venues to maximize sales and sales of related attachments.

Administration/Reporting:

Complete accurate and timely reporting (call report, recaps, timesheets/records, etc.)

Participate in mandatory on-line training and conference calls.

Review schedule in scheduling system. Check voice mails and emails.

Additional Expectations:

This position requires the associate to have a personal cellular device and can upload photographs to the system portal.

Delivers work that meets or exceeds management expectations as to quality, quantity, timeliness and attendance.

Travel and/or Driving Requirements

Travel on an as needed basis is an essential duty and function of this job. Driving is not an essential duty or function of this job.

Minimum Qualifications The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job

Education Level: (Required): High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience

Physical & Environmental Requirements

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed in a retail in-store environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each workday doing the following activities: engage in considerable physical activity, ability to lift and/or push up to 40 pounds, stand on feet for long periods of time, use products or cook food as appropriate for the demonstration, and may be required to work in extremely cold conditions (i.e. refrigerated and freezer sections). Also required to travel and drive. The use of proper safety practices when handling the products and/or cooking is essential.

Other Specific Requirements

Certain assignments may require specialized talent, experience, expertise, skills, knowledge, certification, or duties in order to be eligible to conduct a particular assignment. If an associate does not satisfy the specific requirements for the specialized event, they would remain eligible for the standard, non-specialized events otherwise available to all associates in the position (to the extent such positions are available). Examples of the talent, experience, expertise, skills, knowledge, certification, or duties which may be required to conduct a specialized event include (without limitation): ability to satisfy requirements necessary to conduct product demonstrations involving alcoholic beverages; Food Safety Certification; Responsible Alcohol Server Certification; ability to conduct hot and/or cold food preparation (including without limitation use and handling of sharp objects, cooking appliances, and other food-related tools/equipment); video game /other consumer electronics knowledge, skills, and experience; and ability to play a designated role (which may require an audition).
