Work Experience
Welder
Newport News Shipyard - Newport News, VA
August 2017 to Present
I help build the units that are later assembled to construct nuclear aircraft carriers for the navy. By reading my WICC, I ensure that I’m using the right filler metal, welding on the right base metal and not exceeding my heat input. I perform heating operations by using a propane/oxygen torch to make sure my job is within my preheat/interpass temperatures. I am trained to weld stick, FMAW, SMAW, GMAW and stainless. I am also familiar with carbon arcing and know the procedures surrounding this operation. I am firewatch certified along with confined space certified. I am also NQC certified so I am able to work on units that contain strict reactor controlled material. Lifeguard
