SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE:

Mr. Herring has over 40 years with marine engineering equipment including diesel engines, compressed air systems, refrigeration systems, steering gear, and supporting auxiliary equipment. Honorably served 31years in the U.S. Navy, reaching the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer (E-9) and served as a Navy Fleet Diesel Inspector for the last 10 years of service. He continues providing valuable service as a contracted DEI. Well versed in equipment maintenance and repair. Possesses a comprehensive background in marine electrical power generation and propulsion systems using diesel engines manufactured by General Motors, Fairbanks Morse, Alco, Colt Pielstick, Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel and Cummins. Served on numerous technical and engineering teams, performing inspections, assessments, analysis, grooming and operational testing of main propulsion and diesel generator engines. Extensive working knowledge of the Navy’s Fuel Oil, Lubricating Oil, Jacket Water Chemistry, Planned Maintenance System and Quality Assurance programs. Uses CDMD-OA to verify configuration information and alteration installation documentation.

Served as Diesel Engine Inspector, responsible for 61 diesel engines onboard 19 submarines, 4 ships and 7 boats.

Elevated the Diesel Engine Inspection program through improved procedures for flushing of diesel engines. These improvements caused engines to be returned full service in minimal tine and saved over $500k and 1600 man-hours per engine.
