Management position in hospital ambulatory pharmacy. Staff has included up to 12 FTEs, including pharmacy interns, per diem pharmacist employees and volunteers. Pharmacy processes 275-300 prescriptions per day for both retail sales and hospital discharge. Supervised pharmacists placed in the Family Medicine Clinic. Until December 2000, supervised pharmacists were also placed in the Rainier Clinic and the Medalia at Providence Clinic. Until December 1998, supervision included two additional licensed pharmacies located in Downtown Seattle and Bellevue. Sites were closed due to refocusing of priorities by the organization. Projects have included pharmacist administered flu vaccinations at the Downtown store and in a community supermarket and indigent prescription program. Extern and intern program was revised to include clinical and administrative programs. Department works closely with other hospital departments to improve patient care. Joint ventures included work with the Advanced Bloodless program and with the Occupational Therapy group. Pharmacy is a site for a national buprenorphine/naloxone study, a national study sponsored by the Veteran's Administration.
