Professional Background:

Key Industry Skills:
•The ability to understand how the benefit market works.
•The ablility to communicate comfortably with clients to direct our efforts to their wants and needs.
•Average client relationship 20+ years.
•Guide employees in their professional development and client skills.
•Very respected amongst my peer group and employer community.
Relevant Work Experience:
Old 181 Wrecker Service LLC 2015-2022
Owned and operated, with my wife, a vehicle towing company, and wrecker service in Karnes County, Texas. Very much enjoyed our experience but never was able to grow the company because of the lack of critical business volume. In June 2020 sold the business to one of my past employees.
Carlisle – Corrigan Benefits 2013-2019
In 2013 merged with the Carlisle P&C agency and Carlisle Corrigan Benefits came to be. Unlike prior responsibilities, my management of the agency was a joint responsibility with the PNC agency. In 2018 the Carlisle group sold total ownership in both the P&C and benefit agency to Accusure and my interests transferred to Accusure and I was retired in 2020.
Corrigan Benefits 2005-2013
After reacquiring total ownership, changed the name to Corrigan Benefits as American Bank wanted to maintain the right to the name of Corrigan and Associates. Grew the agency to one of the largest in south Texas and was recognized in the top 5% of individual production of 150 member benefit agencies in the US.
Corrigan and Associates 1999-2005
Joined the American National Bank Group and continued to manage the benefits agency, very profitably. Over issues regarding ownership interests and parent holding company I repurchased the total interest of Corrigan and Associates.
Corrigan and Associates 1980-1999
Managed as sole owner of the agency and changed the name from Lew Bordon and Associates to Corrigan and Associates.
Lew Bordon and Associates 1975-1980
Accepted the responsibility as the managing partner to a benefits agency which was affiliated with a very large P&C agency. The benefits agency was not meeting the expectations of the P&C parent agency and needed strong leader- ship to meet their expectations. After increasing profitability over 500% the agency was sold in 1980 and I purchased the interest of all the owners in the benefits agency.
Public Service Life Insurance Company 1971-1975
Managing 75+ employees, CEO and legal council for working with insurance commissions to facilitate the contracting and financial report requirements. Company sold in 1975.
Overview of My Career:
I was licensed in ten states, and the agency had accounts throughout the US, insuring employers numbering from 20 employees to well over 13,000 employees. I have worked closely with the payor market for a number of years and have retained a very high level of respect from the insurers as a professional who continues to stay ahead of the brokerage/- consulting community in innovation and expertise. I have also worked closely with the medical community and was the organizer of the first primary care physician organization (IPO) owned and controlled exclusively by physicians in the Corpus Christi market. I have also been instrumental in assisting insurance carriers in the selection and development of PPO networks in the Corpus Christi area.
