As a mental health tech. I am responsible for children, adolescents and young adults who present with behavioral, emotional and psychiatric challenges. My responsibilities include overseeing hygiene and medication receival as well as assisting, supporting, and instructing individuals with self-help coping skills and positive behavioral interventions outlined in their clinical treatment plan. I ensure that everyone is safely engaged in daily programs such as recreational and social activities that enhance their social skill development. My responsibility also included addressing and redirecting inappropriate behaviors of individuals and occasionally providing 1 to 1 supervision of individuals who present a danger to themselves as well as others. As a PCT I worked on the Med-Surg unit where I am responsible for the care of patients who have had surgery or are recovering from other medical conditions. I am responsible for taking vital signs, assisting with baths and meals. My responsibilities include the collection of blood work, urine and stool samples as well as the removal of foley catheters and med lock’s. The placement and removal of telemetry boxes as well as getting ekg’s and recording the output of JP drains, colostomy and ostomy bags were all a part of my daily task. I would also sit with patients who were on a 1:1 safety protocol.

I worked as a certified nurse assistant where I provided supportive care to patients and assisted nurses with vital signs, activities of daily living, and preparation of feedings. I also kept maintenance of a clean comfortable and well stocked unit. I transported patients to and from test via stretcher, crib or bed. I would engage with patients to ensure their overall safety and well- being by observing their behavior and body language on a one-to-one basis. I would monitor patients during meals to ensure patients did not engage in eating disorder behaviors. While working on the locked behavioral unit I would provide one to one observation to suicidal patients.

I worked as a patient care technician on the telemetry floor of the hospital. There I continued to utilize my skills as a CNA assisting patients with their daily care in a variety of ways. I was proficient in taking and recording vital signs as well as recording inputs and out puts and assisting with feedings. I tried to ensure that each patient’s stay was as comfortable and pleasant as can be.

While working as a therapy aide I was responsible for assisting patients with morning care which would allow them to be ready for scheduled therapies. I would transport patients to and from therapy and also assist the therapist with patient exercise. I would also perform clerical duties such as answering phones, filing and entering patient charges into computer for billing purposes. At the end of the day I was also responsible for the cleaning and restocking of used equipment and preparing the unit for the next day’s use.

I was responsible for transporting patients via stretcher, wheelchair, or crib to various scheduled test. I ensured patients safe arrival to and from test and alerted nurse of their return to unit once patient was resting comfortably in room.
