Military Experience

United States Marine Corps, Multiple Locations 03/2006 – 12/2018

Operations Officer, Active Duty - Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Base, HI (03/2006 – 07/2009)

Supervisor: Anthony Frank Maj USMC, adywsk@r.postjobfree.com

Vice President of the United States Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Secret Service Joint Coordination. Upon receipt of the mission, I convened planning sessions with a series of experts on logistics, protocol, explosive ordnance disposal, and VIP protective details. Developed the core requirements of a successful VPOTUS arrival to MCBH and developed a plan of operations which would ensure all requirements were addressed in a continuous fashion. Throughout VPOTUS arrival, time on the ground in Hawaii, and departure, monitored all aspects of the planned operation. Following VPOTUS departure, conducted a review of the operation, prepared mission closure documents, and transitioned to steady-state operations.

Supply Officer, Active Duty – Headquarters Battalion Marine Forces Pacific, Camp Smith, HI (03/2006 – 07/2009)

Warehousing and Long-Term Storage Improvement Project. In support of The Marine Corps Forces Pacific Command Headquarters and Service Battalion, initiated the planning, and prepositioning of multiple long-term storage facilities dispersed throughout the island of Oahu, within Honolulu County of Hawaii established as prepositioning centers of distribution in the event of catastrophic events within the Pacific Area of Operations. The combined square footage was 15,751 Square feet housing approximately $16M in operational assets. Utilizing the Marine Corps Planning Process coupled with process improvement strategies, adequately defined the problem, established the most cost effective and time efficient course of action culminating with a project execution plan. Project outcomes reduced supply chain delays, enhanced long-term storage capabilities, and improved logistical process delivery outcomes.

Humanitarian Response Logistical Support Project In support of Operation Tomodachi (2011) Marines of the Pacific command were deployed in response to the catastrophic events of the Japanese city. Using the abbreviated USMC planning process, conducted a rapid assessment of the most urgent requirements on the ground, based on the best information available. Led the logistics elements which USMC contributed to the response. Routinely catalogued incoming information to build the next set of “most urgent requirements” and convened planning teams in a process akin to an Agile “sprint”. The results of that planning process informed the next set of logistical responses, and so on until we were able to support USAID agencies as they helped civilian authorities regain control.

Supply Officer, Active Duty – 1st Battalion, 8th Marines (03/2006 – 07/2009)

Operation Iraqi Freedom 2006 /2009 Played an instrumental role in the successful execution of Operation OIF while serving in an integral leadership capacity for a fast-paced infantry battalion. Oversaw the delivery of critical logistical support functions for a population of 1K+ Marines, Sailors, and Civilians. Proactively investigated administrative functions to identify areas for improvement along with actionable solutions to drive change. Enabled seamless continuity of operations by assisting with local procurement endeavors and developing effective SOPs.

GCCS-MC IT Project. Managed the Global Combat Support System implementation process as part of a multi-unit team providing guidance and testing to contractor IT firm. Key performance objectives reduced customer wait time, improved logistics response time, and decreased dependence on forward-positioned reserve stock.

Individual Warfighter Personal Protective Equipment Procurement Project. USMC standard issue established during OIF included Fire retardant gloves. Unfortunately, due to operational tempo of ground forces additional gloves of better more durable quality and construction were necessary. In order to support these “out of system” procurements the USMC contracting department established specific procedures to accommodate such needs.

Individual Warfighter Personal Illumination Procurement Project. USMC operational forces required personal illumination devices. Unfortunately, due to operational tempo of ground forces and the numerous logistical shortfalls of the era, individual units were required to adequately address these needs. As such units were granted permission through the Government Procurement Process. The project authorized to meet this requirement concluded with the procurement of approx. 1000 units of the Surefire HL1 Helmet Light.

Weapon System Illumination Procurement Project. USMC operational forces required a personal weapon system illumination device. Unfortunately, due to operational tempo of ground forces and the numerous logistical shortfalls of the era, individual units were required to adequately address these needs. As such units were granted permission through the Government Procurement Process. The project authorized to meet this requirement concluded with the procurement of approx. 1000 units of the Surefire M962 Weapon Light.

Weapon System Retention Procurement Project. USMC operational forces required a personal retention system. This requirement was unique to tactical units as well as a relatively new system developed in the wake of tactical improvements of the era. At the time these requirements were not adopted throughout all operational forces and as such tactical units were required to procure the appropriate equipment to support the mission. Specific requirement established the need Marines to employ their weapon system in a close quarter, urban environment in combination with various configurations of body armor. These requirements were unique in that previous Marine Corps doctrine employed what is called a loop sling and or a two-point sling. However, due to the current weapon configuration these options required revision. Subsequently Marine tactical requirements included a three point and single point weapon retention systems with their appropriate mounting hardware.

Logistical Support Project Mojave Viper (Summer). Successfully executed, Operation Mojave Viper (OMV) in accordance with USMC operational strategies, Department of Defense and National Defense Strategic strategies. OMV is unique designed to train and develop operational forces to execute their specific mission in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). Each OMV exercise represents combined arms battle scenarios executed under live fire conditions. Logistical Support Project Mojave Viper Summer 2007 incorporated the planning, development, and tactical execution of all logistical areas of interest.

Operational Withdraw Logistic Support Project Operation Iraqi Freedom AR Ramadi Iraq Successfully executed, Operational withdrawal of US forces during Operation Iraqi Freedom (Ar Ramadi 2007) in accordance with the Department of Defense and National Defense Strategy guidance and policies.

Infrastructure Project Operation Iraqi Freedom Al Asad Iraq (2008). Led infrastructural retrofit of a 26,500 sq.ft. compound in support of combat operations.
