Duties and Accomplishments:

• Manage and supervise a team of 10 government workers and 6 Contract staff in day-to- day operations for the Taskings & Correspondence Unit, ERO Communications and the ERO Policy Units

• Directly engage with the overall hiring process, including planning current and future workforce requirements: review resumes, recruit, and interview potential employees

In November 2012 to January 2014, detail to the Office of the Public Advocate-, which later became the Custody Programs and Community Outreach Division (CPCO). Community Detainee Helpline (CDH) as a Community Relations Officer.

• I was able to take on the role of Training Coordinator for the CDH. As the Training coordinator, I collaborated with other divisions in ERO and ICE to get classes together to educate the operators and expand their knowledge on a variety of subjects that supported their position as call center operators. training, Customs and Border Protection Training, BOMB training and a host of others. I presented training on a weekly basis.

• I served as the Quality Control Officer for the CDH. During this assignment, I analyzed the quality of service that the operators were delivering to our clientele. This was done by randomly listening to calls and rating them based on the level of their customer service and work knowledge.

• I would give formal briefings to higher-level management on the status of the results and work with them to work on a resolution.

• I wrote articles for the bi-monthly newsletter. I interviewed several Ombudsmen in ICE and on occasion, wrote feature stories for the Public Advocate monthly newsletter.

• I was the point of contact for the Criminal Justice Stakeholders. This included taking request from and responding to probation and Parole officers, attorneys, prosecutors, Criminal Investigators and or Federal Employees at different agencies about the inmates that ICE had in custody.

• Resolved employee conflicts and mediated contentious situations.

• I provided information and advisory services to various members of the public, attorneys, and stakeholders to include non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

• I also worked in our Statistical Tracking Unit at DHS Headquarters for 3 years. I checked reports, verified queries and assisted management with daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports on a consistent basis.

• I coordinated with state, local and other federal stakeholders to exchange information and reach amicable agreements regarding detention housing issues.

• Briefed stakeholders on program goals and performance measures and presented findings to upper management.

• I was responsible for developing budget recommendations for the office and making recommendations to resolve all issues and problems. This was in the early stages of the unit’s development. This office was a sub office of the Charlotte, NC office and was not prepared for the staff when we arrived.

• I measured the workload and made sure the personnel level met the needs of the demand. Since the office was new, I was responsible for making sure the goals of management, who were offsite, were translated into actions.

• My duties ranged from working for and supervising the CAP program to managing budget issues. I was responsible for making sure the space we occupied had the equipment we needed to perform our functions. I ensured the workload level met the personnel level for our office and the program.
