Presently working in Research and Development as an engineering tech. Responsibilities include designing of multiple test parts and fixtures. My job also requires having the fixtures build by MTC machinists and set up with Mechanics. Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis supervise and schedule all portions of the test in accordance with the LTO’s furnished by the in house engineers. Tech work requires working very closely with engineers and advise in some cases due to the lack of experience of the work force. This work also requires ordering materials managing equipment to be used with each test.

I use N/X Autocadd and several other standard programs for all computer related tasks. WORD, PDF’S, EXCEL, etc. Job requires attention to detail and the ability to communicate with multiple shops for the test requirements. This is a high stress multitask envirtoment.

I also spent two years doing piping design and hanger design for systems. On nuclear submarine systems. Before I transferred to R & D.

Drafted hydronic radiation systems for multiple customers. Worked closely with sales reps that carried Vulcan radiation systems. Calculated BTU ratings for different types of radiation. Worked with senior engineer to develop better manufacturing methods.

Designed and drafted blow molds for the bottle industry. Did all calculations including shrink factors for various types of bottles and material. Some R&D experience was required.

Set up and operated vertical lathes with multi tool change spindles. Checked all parts per plan and maintained machines for peak performance. Worked under lean manufacturing methods and helped with Manufacturing processes for entire shop. Which included monitoring production of parts for the shop.
