To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing this letter to wholeheartedly endorse Brooke McPhail and provide my
strongest recommendation.
I have worked alongside Brooke for most of her time at Tri City National Bank, approximately
four years in total. Brooke was initially tasked with managing our West Allis location (where my
office is located). At the time Brooke was hired and took over the branch manager position, the
West Allis location was performing below standards, frequently missing key sales goals. There
were severe staffing issues, an underperforming sales environment and overall poor
morale/customer service skills.
Branch management responsibilities within Tri City National Bank include; staffing, scheduling,
hiring, meeting sales goals, training and much more. I observed Brooke quickly get to work by
stabilizing our front-line team (tellers and customer service), putting effort into them via training,
frequent one-on-one meetings and most notably, leading by example. Understanding the state
of the branch, Brooke took on any responsibilities necessary. This meant working as a teller or
customer service representative at times where she would demonstrate, to her team, proper
sales conversations within those roles.
In a short period of time, expectations were established and those team members who were
engaged were given a clear path and the help necessary to succeed. In less than 12 months’
time, through further development, staffing changes, etc. the West Allis branch was
consistently performing amongst the top branches in sales goals which includes items such as
new accounts, additional products, service charge income and more. The team became very
engaged in the process as they were seeing results. This led to a more cohesive team who
began contributing their own ideas to sales growth.
The development of the front-line team is what stood out to me most. Several team members
who did not have the proper coaching under previous management were now flourishing.
Many of those tellers and customer service representatives who worked alongside Brooke are
still with the bank today in enhanced roles.
The bank took notice of Brooke’s ability to cultivate a sales culture and she was most recently
promoted to AVP – Retail Lending Sales Development. In this role, Brooke expanded her sales
training to our retail lending team, advising on sales practices around products like vehicle
loans, personal loans, mortgages and more. Again, a one-on-one approach was used where
Brooke’s sales training could be tailored to the strengths or weaknesses of the people she was
working with.
In short, Brooke has many skills that companies seek in applicants: leadership, sales skills,
people skills, but most importantly, Brooke placed a higher emphasis on her team members
than herself and propelled those individuals further in their careers. To me, this is the mark of
a great manager.
I’m happy to provide any further details and give additional insight. Please do not hesitate to
contact me.
