LADWP **** -**** This shop has** lathes from 6’ Cincinnati with 20’ bed, 3’ Leblond 8’ bed and various lathes to 6” Nam yum
Also 10’ Cincinnati boring mill and 30” King boring mill.
As this was a maintenance shop. I fabricated many items. Became adept at single point threading, standard and metric. Id od and multiple lead. Performed large art repairs and modifications such as 4 kv motor rotor bearing journal grinding, high and intermediate steam turbine rotor machining
On average 4 months a year on lathes.
1997 -1999 JB Machine job shop. Leblond type lathe 13”with 8’ bed, a small Harding type 6”
Fabricated fixture for second opinion CNC, custom flanges, special slurry impellors, short run production of linear bearing blocks, repaired shafting for plastic rolls, single point threads metric and standard, precision internal grooving.

Repaired 6’ ball valve 3’ plug valve various valve seats over 36”. Fabricated bushings for large lift pumps up to 36” impellor, fabricated or repaired pump shafts as needed.

Measure babbit bearings and journals bearing fits for motor end bells and shafts.
Measure bolt stretch for studs and coupling bolts, feeler Gage clearance reads, pump shafts run out.
Was section lead QA for 2 years
These are used almost daily.
JB Machine 1997-1999
Calipers, indicators, 0 to 6” mikes, telescope gages, inside mikes were used daily to produce lathe and mill parts. Also used groove mikes and snap gages to inspect oring and snap ring grooves,
Used many of these daily.
1999-2000 FDS Manufacturing
In the performance of daily job shop work I was responsible for all of my work quality. Precision measurements for bearing fits ID and OD. Typical Micrometer use under 3”.
2001-2002 Local 1607 Millwrights
Performed as found, assembly, and final reads on gas turbine overhaul. Using feelers depth mikes, plastigage for bearing . During alignments used feelers, mikes,and indicators
. At Metropolitan Water District as shop machinist see standard shop bench tools, mikes to 6”, calipers to 18”, bore and telescope gages as needed. Did precision layouts with height gages.
2002-present LADWP During field work regularly used ID and OD mikes; to 24”; feelers, calipers and telescope gages. During shop work use height gages ID and OD mikes to 6”, calipers to 12” on a daily basis.
Welding have performed no welding with any of the stated employers
Oxy- acetylene torch
1980 -1995
2002- Present LADWP have used oxy-acetylene torch for heating of couplings in field work on a monthly basis, as well as to heat bolts for nut removal. Less frequent once or twice a year to flame cut.
Pump and motor alignment
1980-1995 LADWP
Performed many turbine alignments after Steam Turbine Overhauls, with engineering there are up to 7 bearings, shafts or alignment points. Have aligned 4KVmotors, up to 3300 HP to fluid drives to fans, or boiler feed pumps .
Commonly align motors 150 HP to pumps, vapor extractors, and fans through couplings or belts.
Face and rim method
1999-2000 FDS Manufacturing
In building small drives or conveyors about once a quarter in stall a 2-5 HP motor with a tensioner and bel drive. Straight edge
2001-2002 Local 1607 Millwrights
Performed as lead on 6 Turbine to Generator, and 2 Starter drives to Generators, as well as a gas turbine compressor to rotor to Generator alignment. These were GE F2, and Frame 7 gas turbine s. Face and rim.
LADWP 2002-pPerformed a minimum of one alignment a quarter using laser when available or face and rim using straight edge or dial indicators. 4 alignments on 4Kv motors to boiler feed pumps,via, fluid drives also 5 alignments on 4kv motors to Forced draft fans, and gas recirculating fans. At least quarterly perform alignment on motors to 150 HP to pumps and, fans.

2002-Present LADWP
Performed many Steam turbine overhaul s, 150 MW GE F2 units, GE 300 MW tandem shaft,to ABB 250 MW, and 500MW, also worked on Hydro units from 12 MW to 250 MW, vertical, horizontal. This includes assembly inspection, refurbishing as needed and reassembly. This also includes rigging.
Performed maintenance, inspection an repairs to Byron Jackson Boiler, De Laval boiler feed pumps. Each is Driven by 4 KV motors and output over 1900 psi. Also rebuilt these pumps in our shop.
