Rehabilitation Tech/ Spanish Interpreter

Responsibilities

Assist with treatment sessions and/or interpretation into Spanish of physical, occupational, and speech therapy and other activities, under the supervision of a licensed therapist, including contact with adult and pediatric patients. Assist therapist with proper lifting/transferring/positioning patients. Setting up modalities and supplies, monitoring exercises, and transporting patients safely.

Process improvement embracing opportunities to improve processes, services, and patient care. This includes helping the pediatric team organize and maintain toys and activities. Assist with special projects, laminating, sensory diets, Boardmaker and pecs images, and creating visual schedules for pediatric patients.

Mentoring and participating in the student education program. Effectively manage learning experience and orient students. Maintaining HIPPA regulations. Give constructive feedback regularly.

Environmentally Support the department. Stock all linen carts and remove soiled linen bags. Clean all PT/OT tools. Maintain cleanliness in the clinic. Maintain all temp logs for all medical equipment. Clean all medical equipment regularly, this includes cleaning the ball pits balls monthly and soaking pediatric toys monthly. Inventory Management of all supplies in the department monthly. Includes filling the printers daily, and placing orders for office supplies, medical supplies, and therapy evaluation measures. Cut out splint patterns for OT therapist and other splint needed strapping or clips.

Interpreting Spanish for ST/PT/OT sessions as needed. Maintain clear communication between the patient and provider. Assist pediatric therapist with bilingual children for ST/PT/OT. Creating documents into Spanish translation for any therapist and making any phone call in Spanish for therapist to communicate with their patients.

Pediatric Therapy tech required to assist bilingual children to help maintain communication to regulate behavior and participation. This is done through distraction from certain stretches or assisting in play activities to motivate shy children or being the bilingual voice to help therapist with speech modeling. Sometimes I helped therapist through behavior outburst.

Scheduling pediatric Spanish patients quarterly for all pediatric therapists. Maintain the therapy wait list for pediatric ST/OT/PT. Call and schedule all patients coming off the wait list. Manage all messages in Spanish. Maintain the burst wait list. Call and schedule all pediatric patients coming of the burst wait list.

SOS Feeding Therapy groups. Help prepare the food for the groups. Cleanup after each group. Set up sensory play time activities and clean up afterwards. Interpret for the Spanish speaking group. Wash the dishes after each therapy group.

Inpatient Rehab duties include gathering all DME Demos and returning them to storage and cleaning them. Delivering DME to discharged patients. Interpreting Spanish. Assist therapist with cleaning wounds and wound vacs. Assisting patient mobility, including going to the restroom and cleaning them up. Help set up patients that are discharging with home would vacs. Hand Hygiene is especially important.
