JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assigned in Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Coronary Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department and General Wards.

• Responds to Rapid Response Team and Code Blue Team calls.

• Carries out the physician’s verbal/written order as requested for diagnostic and therapeutic procedure under respiratory services.

• Reads and reviews patient information to assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment such as type and duration of therapy and medication dosage.

• Develops plan of care based on assessment data and standards of care.

• Administers different Respiratory Therapy modalities such as aerosol therapy, Incentive spirometry, CPT, Bipap, et al.

• Conducts Pulmonary Function Testing.

• Collects arterial/capillary blood sample and analysis of blood gases

• Sets up, operates and perform minor trouble shooting on devices such as mechanical ventilators, blood gas machines, therapeutic gas and administration apparatus.

• Assists in the management of mechanically ventilated patients.

• Conducts ventilator rounds and monitoring of ventilated patients.

• A preceptor and instructor of newly hired Respiratory Therapists.

• Orientation instructor for Nurses under basic Respiratory Therapy modalities.
