•Assembled and lead a small team of developers in helping the company streamline a very time-consuming and paper intensive company-wide compensation recommendation process formerly handled by a desktop based legacy Visual FoxPro system.

•As lead programmer and VF expert, my charge was to find a way to use the existing business logic contained in the desktop system and to create an intranet-based system while avoiding the expense of a major rewrite.

•With minimal rewriting and very tight deadlines, I created a custom API using a middle-ware package that runs on IIS that was specifically designed to execute VF code using Internet Explorer. For the front-end, I used both JavaScript and VBScript, the former to connect to the backend VF database and the later for input validation and to create a custom hierarchical company tree containing each manager’s direct reports.

•Substantial savings were realized by drastically reducing the collective time it took for each manager to get his or her yearly employee benefit recommendations approved. The new decentralized intranet system completely replaced the paper-based process and allowed each manager’s recommendation to be submitted electronically and validated in real-time.

•Spend over 3 years on this consulting assignment and Year 2 was promoted to Project Manager in addition to Lead Programmer responsible for hiring, prioritizing, and implementing all new system enhancements and ongoing server and front-end maintenance.
