Position: Support Worker (Casual)

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Delivering person-centred support in accordance with the daily shift plan for each participant.

Working with participants with different disabilities such as mental health, autism, spinal injury, brain injury and intellectual disabilities.

Following behaviour intervention plans when participants display challenging behaviours.

Using active support practices with participants to encourage and/or maintain independent living skills.

Encouraging and assisting participants to engage with, and participate in, activities of their choice within the community.

Support participants with their daily living requirements.

Assistance with personal care needs such as toileting, bathing, showering, oral hygiene, medication, and other personal hygiene needs.

Assistance with cooking, food preparation and meal planning.

Performing domestic duties such as (but not limited to) vacuuming. Laundry, general cleaning, dusting, washing dishes, cleaning windows, cleaning carpets, making beds, basic home, and garden maintenance.

Transport to medical appointments, social engagements, shopping (including assisting with shopping) and other outings as required.

Duty of care to provide a safe workplace for my team members and safeguard participants by:

Ensuring my personal work practices do not place the participant at risk of harm, abuse, neglect, or exploitation, or do not place yourself, your team members, or others at risk of harm.

Adhering to documented and approved care plans.

Monitoring any changes to participant needs or general health and reporting them to the program coordinator.

Understanding and following the incident reporting process in place for hazards, injuries, and incidents, including reportable incidents for participants.
