Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills:
Administrative Support:
-Coordinate all administrative support to Veteran Care and maintain continuity of functions during weekends, holidays, evenings, and nights.
-Provide accurate information to clinical staff regarding Veteran’s eligibility for VA health care benefits.
-Provide directions to staff, as necessary, to relieve clinicians and nursing staff from duties not requiring medical/clinical decisions.
-Generate and complete the Gains and Losses Report, when assigned to the midnight shift, to ensure that admissions, inter-ward transfers, and discharges are being reported accurately.
-Facilitate inter-hospital transfers from VA to VA, Non-VA to VA, and/or VA to Non-VA, including completion of required documents within CPRS, VISTA, and 658 Request Center, and coordinate transportation from Salem VAMC, when appropriate.
-Manage Hop-tel check-ins and check-outs, when appropriate.
-Complete all requirements for Decedent Affairs, during other than regular duty hours and/or as needed during regular hours. Follow all established federal regulations, guidelines and local procedures pertaining to Veteran’s deaths. Relays all pending cases to the Decedent Affairs clerk and/or the relieving AOD (Administrative Officer of the Day).
-Ensure that commitment of psychiatric patients is properly recorded according to established guidelines and laws.
