Lead COBOL programmer for all code – during the decommission of the company’s mainframe

Served as Lead Programmer (10 years) for coding the HealthNow ID cards for the entire subscriber/member community. Created 100,000+ ID cards (yearly) on-time and 100% error-free for numerous years.

Sole programmer for the pharmaceutical business (WellPoint). Successfully captured and maintained all drug related prescriptions for over 8 years. Received raw data from outside vendors and updated by writing programs to extract subscriber, member, and current coverage to apply to each of the claims submitted.

Wrote all the COBOL programs to report the business’ Government related pharmacy claims to New York State’s MEDS II program allowing reimbursement for Government sponsored claims. This secure system saved the business over $100,000 in loss returns, late fees and fines.

Designed and coded the document described all coverage and benefits their health plans offers in user-friendly terminology. This guide is still being deployed as the industry’s standard for the last decade. This complete reference guide was enclosed in a bound book.
