Personal Statement

WORK EXPERINCE :

2022 July to date: General Manager – Planet Gardens Annex Hotel in Kakamega.

This is a 46 rooms Hotel with conference capacity of over 250pax. Glad to mention, very lucky from month one we were able to manage the payroll, Electricity and other smaller expenses.

Due to my wide knowledge in the various technical fields, it has been easy to manage the few technical faults that are synonymous to newly built properties.

April 2021 Palm Oasis Garissa General Manager:

Headed also Repairs and Maitenance and F&B Department and Housekeeping.

_ This is a 75 rooms resort with a 500 hundred pax conference capacity and two restaurant, Main Restaurant and the Pool Restaurant

_ On Joining the Hotel, the monthly gross sales was on a 5 Millions sales per month and by the time I left, sales were between 10M and 14.5 per month, thanks to the staff and the directors support.

-This was archived through lots of efforts, training in all areas, cleaning formed a big part of it, managed security more intensly, stores and kitchen inventory management and controls in both f&b and front office, procurement and cost management also played a big part in the final results.

2019 - 2021 : Bahari Beach Mombasa, Maintenance manager and previously Night manager with lots of works in Front office.

Most of the issues affecting clients were corrosion and very prolonged usage on equipment without correct servicing and also life span. We handled these quite well and with time most of the problems were fairly sorted, e,g Laundry machines and water pumps, pool pumps.

= This was one of the Hotels that was very well served with Solar power during the days to the tune of about 40 to 50 %. I will recommend Every unit that has access to sunshine to install a Solar plant to subsidize on Electricity and hence an improved net profit not forgetting the zero carbon emission.

2018 - 2019 Opibus ltd. Mecahnical Eng/: Sales

This is a company that started in Kenya in the year 2018 with the objective to convert gasoline engines to electric drive. Later on grew to also to do lots of Solar installation to facilitate charging of the converted vehicles and lighting up camps and Lodges in the remote Hotels in the Kenyan parks.

2017. - August 2018 General Manager, Hadassah Hotel. Under superior Hotels.

This is a fifty rooms Hotel situated at upper Hill next to Nairobi Hospital. It has Two conference rooms and a board room, total conference capacity of 120 pax, an eighty pax restaurant capacity and a Bar. I was transferred to this unit from Wasini Luxury Suites after Wasini changed ownership.

2016 –2017 General Manager, Wasini Luxury suites Apatrtments (Superior Hotels) in Nairobi along Church road off Waiyaki way. Wasini is a forty five unites apartment with facilities, Gym, pool, spa, two conference rooms, Restaurant and Bar.

Having worked in this Hotel location before, I was able to bring on board lots of accounts, as I previously dealt with several companies around the hotel and hence a great growth occupancies. I also managed to activated many dormant key accounts.

Glad to report also, Due to my knowledge in the various Technical sections, I was able to reduce lots of complains related to maintenance by more than 60% within a very short time.

2015 --- Nov 2016 General Manager, Samich Resort in Eldoret (Elgeiyo Marakwet) . This is a is a property that opened doors in `2013, it is set on the escarpment overlooking the great Kerio valley.

During my one year at Samich, I claim to have re-reopened the and I was able to grow a big number of repeat clientele, improved revenue collection and reduced to a great level the purchases costs and noted controlled food cost between 28 to 32% from 42 and above.

2012 – 2015: General Manager Fahari Palace 25 Apartments and Restaurant located along Church Road Westlands Nairobi.

At Fahari Palace, I supervised all the finishing of construction, made lots additional recommendandition where necessary till the apartmentas were ready. Finally, for opening.

2003- 2010 Assistant Front Office Manager (2010) Holiday Inn Mayfair.

My strongest points in front office are in controls, system customization, training and implementation and this mostly in FIDELIO and Opera-

Property management systems. This involves in most cases coming up with ways of making these system work and report in a more friendly manner without affecting the end products.

As the assistant front office manager, I worked with a span of control of 36 which I am proud to report it remained cohesive.

My most memorable time in Front office was once I was away for five months and when I came back there were many bills ( under Holidex )

Which were set to be written off but I requested for 14 days to try and recover the moneys and true all bills were paid in the same month

2001- 2003 Night Manager (Holiday Inn)

Briefly, duties were more front office than just night management, the last hours of the Hotel were very busy to closing the day.

Morning hours from about 05.00am, the front was almost daily a bee hive of activity but all ever was well managed thus creating a

smooth beginning of the day for all departments.

Other duties involved clearing the staff off home after 11.00 pm and making sure all hand overs were carried out properly and also ensuring all departments were well covered.

The end of day at the front office also had to be done efficiently and on time given as mentioned above.

Staff transport was also a very important duty as the late shift staff in most cases were the same group that reported back on duty the following morning hence the importance of staff vehicle regular inspections.

Making sure breakfast preparation, and kitchen cleaning, restaurant cleaning and also set up all formed a very important

Part of night duty.

1998- 2001 Front Office supervisor. (The Holiday Inn Nairobi)

As a supervisor (Briefly my duties revolved around cashiers, reception, the lobby, reservation/Reception co-ordination.

During this time, I was able bring Housekeeping /Front Desk to a closer working environment.

During this time also, I was able to slow down to a very minimum growth in the overall number of pending bills in the city ledger

(PM) to below 10 – pending bills at the front office.

1995-1998 Mayfair Court Nairobi as a night Auditor.

During this time I reorganized, implemented and trained the staff on the audit expectations.To date, the principles are in operation.
