I am delighted to express my interest in the Registered Nurse position in your reputable hospital . I strongly believe that nursing is a profession that requires a notable level of ardor and a sense of duty. it is more than just a job.

I have read the job specifications and I believe my level of experience and academic qualifications makes me well suited for this role.

I have been reviewed by the NSCN and have passed the test of English (Ielts).

I have attained significant academic qualifications in the field of nursing including a post graduate diploma in Orthopaedic nursing as well as nursing related trainings and this has broadened my knowledge horizon and made me a better nurse in both knowledge and skill.

I have been fortunate to experience working in several units during my training years in school including medical, out-patient and emergency units.

Working in an accident and emergency unit has taught me to be proactive flexible, swift in decision making and time oriented. I am also very skilful in carrying out a triage and emergency care. I am also able to work under pressure, maintain a clear head after working for long hours, lead a team and delegate duties according to the NSCN guidelines. I am also able to carry out a proper examination on a patient to identify his immediate care needs and provide a quick response.

I have experience working in the outpatient department which has improved my communication ability, interpersonal relationships and organisation skills.

I have experience working in an acute medical unit which had taught me how to provide individualized care tailored to the need of one individual as well as paying close attention to details and improving my observational skills. I am also able to identify signs of deterioration in my patients because of the detailed examination and assessment I have carried out.

As a student I have gone on placements in the community and psychiatric unit and I have learnt significant nursing care for psychiatric patients and those in the community

As part of the multidisciplinary team, I contribute to clinical decisions made for my patients, advocate for them and ensure they are receiving a person centred and safe approach to care. I also understand and implement policies and laws around patient care, safety and rights.

As a registered nurse with 5 years of active working experience I am very skilled in handling instruments such as the nebulizer, oxygen, infusion pump, pulse oximeter, cardiac monitor, vital signs monitor, breathalyzer, suctioning machine, splints, forceps, Automated external defibrillator, and suture kits and can handle procedures like IV cannulation, nasogastric tube insertion and feeding, venepuncture, use of infusion pumps, medicine administration and documentation, wound dressing and suture, applying a splint and plaster of paris, male and female catheterization, suturing lacerations, suctioning, ECG recording and cryotherapy treatment.

I am a compassionate, accountable, enthusiastic, motivated and innovative registered nurse who has the perfect combination of dedication, competence, flexibility, team spirit, and IT skills required for excellent health care delivery.

I am aware of the importance of taking safety measures and infection prevention measures to avoid infection and maintain a high standard of care leading to positive patient outcome hence I

do my best to maintain cleanliness and take infection prevention measures.

I am able to demonstrate self-awareness, resilience and excellent communication skills using evidenced based communication strategies and participate in effective team working to promote high quality and evidenced based care.

I am very open to innovation and always willing to learn, unlearn and relearn as I opine that nursing is a dynamic profession. I take responsibility for my learning and do my best to stay up to date on contemporary issues in nursing and health care. Over the years, I have attended several continuing education programs and trainings which has further broadened my knowledge horizon and honed my skills.

I understand the principles underpinning risk management and I do my best to ensure a safe environment for people under my care and prevent risk to them.

In my capacity of a nursing officer, I act as a professional and clinical role model to my colleagues, clients, their relatives and the general public according to the Board policies and guideline at all times.

I have acquired necessary skills from my previous experience and qualifications and I also continuously strive to improve my skills and knowledge horizon through personal researches and educational development.

Communication: Communication is the basis for a good interpersonal relationship hence I prioritize it. I pay attention to my patient without interrupting or imposing my own solutions. I also elicit information through nonverbal clues and receive a feedback from them after carrying out nursing action. I ensure I maintain excellent relationship with my colleagues also through effective communication, learning from them and also teaching them when the need arise.

Courage: I do my best to stay strong in the face of challenges, pain or grief and to also be a source of strength to my patients and co -workers.
