Girl Power United- Served as President of the Hampton Roads Chapter. Managed events and workshops for teen girls as well as recruited new members and volunteers. CASA Volunteer -Served as a court appointed advocate for children who received services as a result of abuse and neglect. Performed in-home visits, observed children in a variety of settings (school, home, and professional settings). Maintained weekly contact with social workers, counselors, and other professionals to see if parents were meeting their goals. Provided the courts with written assessments with my recommendation as to whether or not the child should be removed from the home. Developed goals for the families with the primary focus of keeping the families together when possible. Provided individual and group counseling to address the mental and emotional effects of life experiences as well as to aide in the transition back into the home.
