Patient Access Specialist/Receptionist

At front desk greet visitors, answer questions and direct them to the proper departments/locations for office visits and hospital testing. Register for all outpatient testing and procedures (Echo, Stress test, Nuclear medicine, Cardioversion, Watchman, Angiograms, etc.) Interview patients for all pertinent account information. Verify all insurance and calculate and collect patient liability amounts. Ensure that all necessary signatures are obtained, choose correct health plan and research to ensure accuracy when verifying insurance. Enter all authorization information as needed. Check for physician orders and attach them to appropriate patient record to ensure correct test is received. Print/collate any paperwork needed for each patient for distribution to unit/department. ER Patient Access Specialist (1yr)

I worked the front lobby of an extremely busy 60-bed Emergency Room in an upscale hospital in Newport Beach, CA. Duties were to greet people as they come in and complete patient registrations, obtain required signatures and validate correctness of information. Identify and collect co-pays on all HMOs and PPOs that are required at time of service, collect insurance cards and scan all paperwork as well as update all information into the computer system and verify insurance via internet or phone at a rapid pace. I also worked the back of the ER on the floor, visiting patient rooms and interviewing the patient to get them properly registered. At times I also worked the Ambulance Bay, with the help of the EMT to get patients registered.

Radiology Scheduler (2.5yrs)

Converse with patients/doctor offices over the phone to schedule all types of radiology tests (MRI, PET, CT, US, X-Ray). Verify insurance, decipher doctor orders received via fax, research past visits and confirm all information. Work with doctor offices to resolve any issues with orders or anything else. Converse with patients over the phone to pre-register them for all exams, inpatient and outpatient. Ensure authorizations are in place, confirm all demographics and verify insurance and identify correct insurance coding, collect any copay or deductible utilizing the ECashiering program software.

Involved directly with assisting physicians, provider offices, and members with issue resolution, claim status and research, and referral status and research calls.
