This is a 10-week comprehensive DA program in a private school. I taught the basics of
dental assisting, enabling the students to confidently sit chair side upon completion of
the class. Didactic and clinical instruction is provided in an 8 hour, Saturday schedule.
The class continues for 12 weeks consecutively and runs four times per year. Some, but
not all of the skill instruction I provide is, infection control, sterilization techniques,
alginate impressions, pouring study models, dental dam placement, IRM fillings, anterior
and posterior provisional crown fabrication, oral hygiene instruction, oral evacuation, tray

software applications and front office reception. My strong points are based on realistic
experiences within a dental office, therefore my communication and instruction with my
students promotes a genuine interest and understanding prior to their employment. I

As an instructor in an 8-month rotating RDA program I was responsible for lecture and
clinical training. This is a vocational college therefore; the demographic of students was
substantial. My position entailed following the curriculum provided which encompassed
all chair side skills as a registered dental assistant, introducing the dental software
program (Eaglesoft), front office management and proper patient relations. Weekly
management meetings were mandatory, as was prep time for each class, quarterly
training seminars for the instructors. My best qualities as an instructor are one on one
tutoring to those with special education needs and radiology training. The students and I
got along very well with one another showing mutual consideration and respect.

My duties as an administrative assistant were to greet patients upon arrival, process
their personal and insurance paperwork, answer four phone lines, processing payments,
explaining treatment sequences, schedule four operatories in a general practice and
final treatment planning. Dr. Carr specializes in sedation dentistry; therefore the
treatment plans were extensive. It was imperative that the patients felt comfortable and
payment arrangements were made prior to surgery. We worked with Care Credit for their
financing. I was proficient in Softdent dental software program. Of all the positions I
have held in dentistry, this has to be my favorite dental office to work in. We were a
cohesive staff, meeting many structured goals that produced various bonuses and we
genuinely had fun at work every day.
