My Management Accomplishments

1.I managed a twelve thousand square foot clothing store for Palm Beach Mill Outlets. The store I managed was in Burlington, Vermont. The division was based in Knoxville, TN. In that job, I helped increase sales by training the floor sales team. I also made Knoxville aware of location issues with the store. Most retail stores moved to Church St. which became a walking mall.

2.As station manager at Newark, NJ for Precision Airlines, they sent me to Newark to solve the following problems. Frequent luggage mishandling, and poor communication between the ramp, operations, and ticket counter. Limited teamwork on almost every shift. Training and hiring resolved those issues. I also improved the relationship with our host airline, Eastern. I started negotiations with the Northwest Airlines station manager. Precision became a Northwest Airlink commuter. All missions were accomplished.

4.At Gateway as Service Lead, I improved revenue and exceeded our goals. My team earned several monthly awards for our district and the company overall.

5.Following a layoff from Gateway in 2004, I started Arundel Computer Service. This is a home-based computer repair company.

6.At 14, I started a lawn mowing business, which I ran for two summers.

The management role ranged from making hiring decisions, handling all major client issues, and team motivation toward meeting company goals. The team earned Service Center for the year award and other awards out of 188 other competing teams,

My final role with Gateway was Project Manager responsible for the shutdown of the Service area of the store while Gateway closed all 188 stores this April.

I started with Precision as a ticket agent and ramp agent in Manchester. My final post was as a station manager in Newark, NJ. I was a hiring manager there. I changed operational procedures to ensure that bags got loaded on the correct aircraft.

I streamlined the efficiency of counter operations on all shifts. I also got the staff to function as a team. Improved customer service.

Palm Beach Clothing Company Mill Outlet Division. I started as a management trainee in the Burlington, VT store. They sent me to Knoxville, TN, for further training. I did site location work with a team in San Jose, California. I was involved with site preparation and store openings in San Jose, New Orleans, Monroe, LA, and Parkersburg, W VA (factory sale).

At the end of that activity in May 1980, they sent me to manage the Burlington, Vt. Store.

Hired and supervised all personnel and improved workflow procedures to improve efficiency. I managed all advertising and set up the annual budget for the store. I coordinated with division management for supply and fixture orders. Seasonally, I decided about inventory or markdown or sale through coordinating with divisional leadership.

Other information and community involvement

I was appointed to the Kennebunk Budget Board in 2004, a seven-member board that meets and reviews the operating budgets for all except the school system. My last term expired in 2011.

In addition, I am on the RSU21 School Finance Committee's term expires next year.

I served as Commodore of Eagle Rock Yacht Club, P.O. Box 51, Kennebunk, ME 04043 I was voted in as Commodore for a two-year term starting August 15, 2007 - August 15, 2010. In that role, I coordinate activities and manage various club assets. Now serving as Governor, starting August 15th, 2010.

I was Elected Selectman in 2011, that term expires in 2014.
