Instrumentation and Calibrations Specialist (09/2015 – to 04/2022)

Maintained and calibrated electronic digital and analog instrumentation such as various types of load cells, digital force gages, digital angle finders, angle transducers, pressure transducers, displacement transducers, various digital & dial indicators, depth gages, go no-go gages, digital calipers, micrometers, strain conditioners, voltmeters, rotary torque cells, torque wrenches, height gages, dead weights, etc. Build, modify, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, and harnesses. Instrumental in building an electronic controller for performing component durability cycle testing that controlled three individual testing stations. Performed various component testing on vehicle park brakes, clutch pedals, etc. utilizing various controllers and Lab View systems, DataQ & USB Sensor Link acquisition systems. Supervised / managed 30+ salaried personnel and prioritized union personnel tasks in Engine Testing Operations as well as the various Support Units and Quality Control within the Dynamometer Lab on the midnight shift. Responsible for all engine and powertrain testing for engine development, certification, durability as well as components and AC testing throughout the building of 102 test rooms.

Also responsible for supervising / managing resources within strict budgetary constraints for all test room Support Teams (Instrumentation Technical Services Unit, Calibration Support Unit, Engine Electronic Control Systems Unit, Special Test Unit, Machine Shop Unit, and the Fuel House Unit that provided various fuels for all 102 test rooms). Responsible for quality control for all data to ensure that test data for the engineering customer is accurate and within ISO-9001 standards. Implemented and managed the recycling and refurbishing program that was responsible for the ordering and reordering of equipment (A/F sensors, piezoelectric cylinder pressure transducers, thermocouples, vehicle wire harness builds, testing, modify and repairs etc.) that were usually discarded after testing. This effort greatly lowered the expense budget which positively impacted P/L and the overall departmental budget.

Administered performance reviews, coaching and counseling and performed all administration duties for the entire shift. Participated in the selection of new employees. Prepared weekend work assignments and schedules for all areas of responsibility. Instrumental in setting up training for all employees and teams under my authority. Also supervised 10 purchased services employees that were also assigned to the shift.

Performed all safety duties and overseen all safety drills as the midnight shift Safety Captain. Updated and modified all safety standards as deemed necessary and enforced the adherence to all safety rules on the shift.

Support Supervisor (11/1992 - 04/2007)

Supervised all salaried Support Units on the midnight shift. Responsible for the Instrumentation Maintenance and Calibration and Quality Control Unit, CSR (Customer Service Representatives) Team, Special Testing Unit, Engine Electrical Services, Machine Shop and Fuel House Unit. My various teams maintained and calibrated 102 test rooms with various test room configurations. Maximized efficiency and productivity in a lean environment. Instrumental in helping the organization receive ISO-9001 certification status. Implemented one shift calibration process building wide. Maintain a strong working relationship with the engineering customer as well as the UAW skilled trades.

Electronic Instrumentation, Calibration & Vehicle Harness Test Technician A (06/1983 - 11/1992)
