Sales & Marketing

Most of my career has been in Sales or Purchasing, most of those years I have been self- employed.

Solid Sales experience and performance in various fields, to include: Print & Digital Advertising & Marketing, Packaging, Purchasing, Sales of Imported and Domestically - Produced Raw Materials and Finished Goods (to the Furniture Industry). I derive enjoyment with meeting new people, developing relationships, and helping them get the products and/or services they need for whatever purpose. Fortunately, I have been able to make a career out of my need to serve in this capacity. The changing economy in 2008 forced me to forego my self-employment and seek work directly as an employee, with benefits! Working with Media General was a great experience and taught me more skills in selling Advertising as well as Time Management, and Customer Management. The ever-changing economy (less Print- more Digital) led Media General to sell out to Berkshire Hathaway, leading to a lay-off and a new position for me, with a local Entertainment Newspaper, which after 18 months, the owner could not afford two salespeople, me being last hired, led to my lay-off. I began selling Advertising – print and Digital Ads - in to two Auto Magazines as a 1099 contract worker. One magazine suspended operation due to Covid and ultimately closed their doors, the other barely exists.

Since November 2021 until April 21st 2023, I have been working in Accounts Receivable- Collections-Customer Service for a Trucking Company. Due to slowing economy my Position was eliminated.

I am available for employment immediately, anxious to do what I love to do – work with people, solving their needs!

Work Experience

Customer Service-Accounts Receivable-Collections-Hickory, NC November 2021 to April 2023: Monitoring Credit Limits, Aging Reports, and supplying supporting Documents to Customers, giving them the opportunity to pay their Invoices on time. Creating New Customer Accounts, Maintaining Existing Customer Profile Contact info – Researching web, Manufacturers, Lyon Credit Services Reporting, for current Company Info. Working New Invoices Daily – sending copies of Invoices to Customers, checking accuracy of Invoice to Bill of Lading, checking Account Balances in order to Release Freight for Shipping. Working with various Company Terminals to process their Invoicing. Constant verbal and written communications between Departments – Customer Service, Dispatch, Rates/Billing, and Shipping.

Self-Employed – Sales-Hickory, NC June 2013 – Present: Calling on Independent Auto Dealers in 7-County Area… Meeting with Owners, Sales Managers - planning Ad Schedules, Meeting Print Deadlines, Collecting Monies, Preparing Ad Copy, Uploading to Graphic Artist and Proofreading for Accuracy prior to Print. I maintain my Customer List, Cold Calling on New Prospects, as well.

Advertising Account Executive-Focus Newspaper-Hickory, NC January 2012 to August 2013: Prospect for New Customers. Maintain Existing Customers. Participate in Chamber of Commerce Events, Trade Shows, Community Events. Sales Calls in an eight-county area. All verbal and written communications utilizing Social Media, Email, Phone. Preparing and promoting customized Sales & Marketing Proposals for prospective customers. Create budget- friendly and effective Advertising Plans.

Brought a more conservative advertising base to a quasi-liberal newspaper. My customers were satisfied with my sales advice and my servicing of their accounts. I followed through any proposal I offered – resulting in repeat business from satisfied customers. Advertising Account Executive-Media General-August 2008 to September 2012: Sales and Marketing using various media platforms-News Print, Magazine and Internet Advertising Sales. Targeted Marketing Products, QR Codes, Mobile Phone App Marketing, Real Estate marketing through Zillow. Preparing quotes and proposals for Specific Customers. Maintaining all files, Customer Contacts, Correspondence. Working with Graphic Artists, Accounting, Management and production Personnel. Special Promotions. Acknowledgement from NC Press Association for creative and effective Advertising. Grew my Active Account List while offering existing customers more products to grow their business. Recognized for profitability and Top Team Sales. Exceeded all Sales Goals. Used Salesforce Customer Service/Management for tracking and monitoring Sales.

Prior to Advertising Sales, I worked in Purchasing for two different Furniture Groups – Impact Furniture which became a Division of Bassett Furniture, then Progressive Furniture, as Purchasing Manager. Progressive experienced growth by merging with Pilliod, and later sold to Sauder Furniture. Purchasing required working with Manufacturing and Customers’ Promotional Schedules – from Production Scheduling, buying Raw Materials and arranging logistics of delivery and monitoring Inventory, to Packaging of Finished Goods and Shipping out the back door. Transitioning through several ownerships, mergers, and managements, I left to pursue Sales of

Imported and Domestically-Produced products – ie Chair Frames, Unfinished Case Goods, Decorative Moldings and Turnings, Cut-to-Size Engineered Wood - to the Furniture Industry Discussion of any or all, of my Work Experience welcomed.
