I currently am working as a shift lead at potbelly sandwich shop, I started as a team member and worked my way up to management. I quickly learned about all the food menu items, I can answer any questions our guests have about our products. I learned how to assemble the sandwiches make/serve the soup and salads. The menu is extensive and I had to pay very close attention during my training. Eventually I learned how to lead a shift and take care of all my team members while also taking care of the guests concerns or questions. I have to stay on top of timing as I have checklists I submit daily to our district manager regarding the shop every hour. I stay in top of timing so my team members can all take their breaks during the day. We have lines out the door and down the hall daily, there typically isn’t a day I haven’t had to resolve a conflict or help someone who has questions or concerns, which I never mind doing. I do the safe count three times in a day and do paper work for my district manager at the end of every shift regarding sales and if we met our goal which we typically do. I have learned to up-sell and we gain more regulars who come in by making conversation and making everyone feel included and welcomed in my shop. Part of my job is being able to prioritize, when it is very fast paced. I know when to check in with my customers, i am very out going and love to make conversation with my table when it seems appropriate to me. I have to stay on top when their food is coming out so I can get it to them quickly as possible. It’s also a large bar setting so I have had to memorize the mules, craft cocktails, draft beer etc. I keep my section clean and sanitary for every guest that comes in! I am a good listener because I would hate to get someone’s order wrong, and people typically like chatting with me. I am very much a people person so going to work and being a good example of the restaurant is pretty easy for me because I enjoy it!

I started cashiering here a while back and I loved it. I had to learn how to manage the computer while also using my people skills at the same time. I was able to make eye contact and conversation while also taking orders and remembering where everything on the menu was, I caught on pretty fast. Eventually I became the trainer for our new cashiers because I was very confident and had a leadership role. We were extremely short staffed so I worked a lot of long hard hours but we had a good team and we all made it work and I was very thorough as well as quick. There were days when it would get so busy I would have to switch from cashiering to cooking because we were behind in the kitchen. I cooked and mixed the chicken and had to also memorize where to get all of our sauces and seasonings. This was a fun pet of my job because I’m good at being fast and staying on track I like being busy. We had days where servers would call in and I would run food for the other servers because we would get backed up in that department as well. My goal was to make everything as quick and easy as possible for the whole team. I was very good at my job and all parts of it. Skills
