Growing up in a bilingual English-Japanese home in Nova Scotia, Canada, I've been a native speaker of both languages since I was a kid. With over 12 years of experience in translation, I'm passionate about bridging communication barriers between cultures. I earned one B.A. in English Literature from St.Mary's University back home, then packed my bags for Japan where I got a second B.A. in Mechanics and Manufacturing from Osaka University. After graduating, I spent five years as a technical consultant and translator at a Japanese engineering firm in Tokyo. When they transferred me to China, I immersed myself in the language and culture for another eight years. The biggest challenge I've faced is balancing respect for the original text with adapting it for the target audience. After a decade in Japan and China, I've gained priceless insights into the languages, histories, and cultures. My goal is to smooth communication between East and West.
