Resume:

Good day!

I wanted to introduce myself directly so you’d know more about the real me and not just the gal you can read from my resume which gives you my work history, training, qualifications, etc., but do you really know what kind of person I am by that? The simple answer is no.

As you can clearly see by my work history, the majority of my life/work career has been in a management capacity work for a major airline directly out of O’Hare Airport in Chicago - one of the busiest airports in the world. My job put one supervisor (me) responsible for everything occurring in whatever concourse you were assigned which could be as much as 21 gates. You could be handling a situation at gate G1A and get a call your presence was requested at G21 so you’d obviously had to prioritize and advise you’d get to the other as soon as you could. I’d be responsible for irate passengers, intoxicated passengers, emergency landings, aircraft damage, responsible for lost and found items which have included every Apple and Bose product forgotten on a plane or gate area all the way to a wallet containing $4000 cash. I personally tracked the passenger down to hand his wallet to him directly as he was moving for work and quite honestly, even though there is a “paper trail” when items get turned in and picked up, something of that nature could be too tempting because we did have to let go of agents for theft. I’d also follow-up on agent issues and coach and counsel them, and the list goes on. We were also trained to look for potential fraud bookings, trying to use another person’s ID to travel, signs of potential child trafficking and maintain the security of the aircraft at all times.

I have a strong work ethic and would not leave to ”finish reports the next day”. There were many days - especially bad weather days - where I’d start at 1pm with the sun out and had several shifts I didn’t leave until the sun was coming up the following morning. I also am a team player to get the job done - I would not pull the “that’s not my job description” card. It saddened me how things have changed because believe me, I did many things that weren’t my “job description” but we would all pitch in to get that plane and passengers out on time.

I would ensure the job or project would be done correctly the first time. If I’m unsure of something, I am not too proud to ask if something is correct or not because I’d rather ask and get it done correctly the first time than get something returned back to me for corrections due to errors. This is something new to learn and I understand that. I’m also a fast learner and pick up on things quickly so I feel comfortable saying I’m not afraid to take on new challenges and responsibilities.

I can work responsibly by myself remotely in a designated area and keep my work space neat and organized just as if I had my desk at the airport. If selected for this position, you would always get 115% effort and I can promise you that you won’t regret hiring me for the position.

Best regards,

Jen Schelfhout
