Experience

January 2021-Present Verint Corporation, Senior Business Intelligence Developer

As a Senior Business Intelligence Developer, I am responsible for all aspects of data Datamart design development and maintenance within the MS SQL server environment, supporting Verint’s Interactive Virtual Assistant (IVA) Data analysis and KPI data gathering activities.

The IVA DataMart was designed and architected utilizing dimensional data modeling techniques based upon Kimball methodologies. I also design, develop and maintain all ETL processes into and out of the IVA Datamart utilizing SSIS and TSQL. All ETL processes are fully automated and perform at a 99% daily success rate. From an operational perspective I support each of the automation processes and intervene to troubleshoot issues should they arise.

In addition to my SQL development efforts, I am also responsible for the design and development of BI solutions utilizing PowerBI. The dashboards built expose IVA analytic and KPI data to both internal and external facing clients.

Lastly, I am responsible for the publication of design/requirements documents, user guides and operational SOPs.

May 2017-September 2020 Crimson Wine Group, Senior Business Intelligence Developer

As a Senior Business Intelligence Developer, I was responsible for all aspects of data warehouse design development and maintenance within the SQL 2016 environment. The data warehouse and each of the data marts it contained were designed and architected utilizing Kimball methodologies. I also designed, developed and maintained all ETL processes into and out of the Crimson Data Warehouse and each of its data marts utilizing SSIS. Several of the ETL processes interface with external vendors, the internal ETL processes interfaced with the Crimson NAV ERP platform (Microsoft Dynamics) and the BOARD BI platform. Each ETL process was fully automated. From an operational perspective I supported each of the automation processes and intervened to troubleshoot issues when they arose.

In addition to my SQL development efforts I was also responsible for the design and development of BI solutions utilizing the BOARD BI development platform and Power BI. The BOARD platform supports the development of multi-dimensional databases and cube structures. These databases and cube structures are the building blocks from which reporting and analytic capability was created. This capability consists of reports, dashboards and visualizations.

I was also tasked with documenting and implementing an approach to migrating the Crimson on-premise SQL server to a cloud based Azure SQL server. I successfully implemented Phase I of this strategy where the on-premise data warehouse schema and data model was migrated to the Azure SQL server environment and a nightly data synchronization process was developed utilizing Azure Data Factory to copy the on-premise data to the Azure SQL server.

I also managed the Crimson Master Data Management program where non-ERP data was captured via .NET forms that I designed and developed. This data was placed into a SQL staging database where on a nightly basis it was merged with ERP data and moved into the BOARD BI platform.

Lastly, I was responsible for the publication of design/requirements documents, user guides and operational SOPs.

Feb 2011-April 2017 First Republic Bank, Senior Data Warehouse Developer

As a Senior Data Warehouse Developer, I was responsible for all aspects of data warehouse design development and maintenance within the SQL 2008 environment. The data marts within the data warehouse were utilized by the banks BS/AML compliance team for reporting and analysis. In addition to my data warehousing design and development activities I was also tasked with leading the ETL team to design develop and deploy feeds into our vendor supported compliance tool (Actimize). These ETL feeds were designed utilizing SSIS and fed the Actimize application with customer and transaction data to support regulatory compliance and reporting functions required by the FDIC. I was also responsible for developing and maintaining the documentation to support each phase of our development activities throughout the SDLC process.

Mar 2004-Jan 2011 Foster’s Wine Estates, Senior Data Warehouse Architect

As a Senior Data Warehouse Architect, I was tasked with all aspects of data warehouse design development and maintenance in support of the Foster’s Wine Estates retail operations i.e. Wineries, and Wine Clubs. The primary focus of my role was data modeling and the creation of ETL processes that consolidated and aggregated data from various OLTP systems, and the Foster’s Wine Estates JD Edwards ERP system. All of my query design and optimization was performed within the MS SQL 2005, or 2008 environments, utilizing TSQL, and SSIS. I was also tasked with the design and development of ASP .NET applications which exposed warehoused data to each of the retail sites, and to each of the eight Wine Club Managers I supported. Each of the ASP .NET applications I designed and developed made use of the Crystal Reports 11 SDK object model to aid in the design and development of custom user interfaces to support reporting functionality that was custom tailored to each of the business units I supported.

One of 20 Software Engineers responsible for supporting and enhancing the Fair Isaac Decision System (FIDS). FIDS is a decision engine and application generator that enables users to create, configure, test and deploy decision strategies to either mainframe, NT, AS 400 or UNIX platforms. FIDS was built utilizing the following technologies: Visual C++/COM, MS SQL Server 2000, and Visual Basic 6.0. I was responsible for the design, development and enhancement all FIDS Visual Basic components. The majority of my time on this project was spent making major enhancements to the FIDS Excel interface. The FIDS Excel interface allows users to create and send transactions to the FIDS runtime service for processing via an Excel add-in written in Visual Basic. I was also a member of the team that was tasked to prove XML & the Web could be used to communicate with FIDS. I was responsible for the design and development of the FIDS XML input/output documents and schemas.
