I retired from the Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons, with 23 years of service. All federal law enforcement agencies have a mandatory retirement age of 57. I have over 60 years work experience and can work independently without supervision in numerous fields. I also have many years of experience working with the public. After working as Accounts Payable Clerk for the Fiscal Court for 3 months through Manpower, I began working the position on a contract basis which converted to full time in October of 2015. I am responsible for tracking and paying all invoices for Boyd County which consists of six accounts and a budget which must be adhered to. I deal directly with companies regarding unresolved issues with their account receivables. I work directly with the Boyd County Treasurer and provide any additional duties required from me.

I was elected to this position in September, 2001, at the CPL-33 Convention in Las Vegas by the delegates of the Federal Bureau of Prisons Locals nationwide. The Council of Prisons Locals consists of nine officers, three national and six regional, who make up the national executive board for the national union representing all bargaining unit staff working in the Federal Bureau of Prisons nationwide. Mine was a national position, and I was second in command to the president. We negotiated national policy and contracts with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, as well as handled problems at individual institutions. I traveled 45 out of 52 weeks per year, and also had an office in my home when I was in the area. My salary continued to be paid by the Dept. of Justice/ Bureau of Prisons during this tenure. My individual responsibilities also included managing the dues income totaling approximately $800,000 yearly. My position’s responsibilities included planning a convention and six regional caucuses yearly, as well as numerous training sessions nationwide. I budgeted and paid all incurred expenses, which I tracked by Quicken for tax purposes. I personally held training courses for treasurers from 100 plus institutions around the country and reported to the Dept. of Labor all necessary information concerning incoming/outgoing funds.

I worked four different areas while working for the Bureau, but retired as an accounting technician, which I held for the last 15 years of service, including my tenure as a national union executive board officer. My other positions included overseeing an ADP (automated data processing) UNICOR Factory for two years at FCI, Lexington, KY; working in Receiving and Discharge as the Data Processor for two years, and secretary of a unit team for four years. As accounting technician, I handled all inmate account money and pay, institutional bills associated with inmate usage, etc.
