As a CSS, my duties were to oversee my subordinates in a manner which was acceptable to the Postal Service as well as the Union. My responsibilities included the supervision of carriers and mail clerks ensuring all task were performed in a safe timely fashion, oversee proper handling and distribution of all mail pieces, ensure overtime was evenly distributed among those that desired overtime, conduct route inspections / audits on carier routes to ensure the efficiency and accuracy of mail delivery, input time, leave, vacation, ect to ensure the employees were properly compensated, provide feedback to the station manager/ postmaster regarding day to day operations within my zone, provide various reports/workload statuses/ overtime reports/ daily projections to upper management daily, address customers concerns/ complaints regarding mail/ package delivery, assist customers with all postal related services (change of address, stamp purchase, insured mail pieces, mail delivery ect), conduct vehicle inspections to ensure postal vehicles were fully operational and free of damage, implement policies and procedures conduct evaluations and progressive discipline when necessary.
