Information systems support of the patients visit including appointment scheduling, registration, discharge and billing in appropriate systems, performs clerical duties as necessary in the Emergency Rooms.

Communications Specialist:

Duties include all aspects of dispatching and coordinating all patient transports to and from the University

Of Chicago Hospital via Ground Ambulance or Helicopter flights in the aeromedical network dispatch

center, all computer registrations and other data entries of helicopter patient Information, entering

outpatient charges, performed flight following on helicopter which is an FAA requirement.

Duties include General Cleaning- Vacuums all carpeted areas as needed; cleans mirrors, ledges and window sills; spot clean walls and doors in all common areas; cleans windows and water fountains in lobbies and hallways; cleans chalk and marking boards; cleans stainless steel brass and wood work; dusts furniture in all common areas ; wipes down machines in laundry area, sweep, dusts, wet mops hard surface floors(may be required to use wet dry vacuums, dust mop, dry mop) cleans vents and light coverings; shovels and/sweep exterior steps; removes snow and dispenses ice melting.

Cleaning and Sanitizing of Restrooms and Shower areas- Cleans and disinfects restrooms and

Shower rooms on a daily basis. This involves scrubbing floors (manually and/or with a buffer or scrubber) cleaning toilets, urinals and partitions. Shower stalls, sinks, mirrors, and counters; filling soap, towel and tissue dispensers; cleans drains, mops and sanitizes floor. Unclog toilets as needed.

Floor Care- Buffing (conventional and burnisher) burnishing, light scrubbing, stripping and refinishing of floor surfaces. Also spot cleaning of carpet.

Trash and Recycling- Empties trash and recycling in all common areas and trash chutes, takes trash and recycling to dumpsters and operates compacters; breaks down boxes as needed; cleans and maintains dumpster and recycling areas in and outside of the building.

Miscellaneous Responsibilities- Unlocks (and Locks) designated doors and turns on/off lights

Cleans kitchen appliances where/when appropriate; participates in emergency and special request cleaning tasks; occasional ladder climbing to clean higher areas; prepare beds with linen in the private residences as needed and for special programs/projects; spot shampooing

And stain removal from upholstery and carpets; handle special requests of the building manager/rector; maintains the outside perimeter of the building in a clean and uncluttered conditions, special event.
