Prior to Yellow company failure and layoffs of all 30,000+ nonunion employees, I was responsible for working with terminal managers and DC Managers to develop daily load plans for the movement of Yellow’s daily shipments across the network to reduce transfer of shipments and improve service to customers. Reviewing live shipment data in several technology applications and optimizing the static load plan to reduce transfers, match driver and trailer resources and meet service requirements. Looking for direct point-to-point load opportunities and directing drivers to destinate distribution loads. Guaranteeing daily load plan is met to compliance standards, ensuring direct lead load percentages and on-time service goals were met. Developing load plans ensuring departure time compliance targets are met. Coordinating with Velocity DC manager to set dock doors for optimal load and dock plan. Generating and reviewing metrics such as KPI reports to meet load plan objectives. Reviewing freight flow patterns and implementing actions necessary to minimize empty or partially loaded miles. Maintaining knowledge of intermodal and purchase transportation departure and availability times. Participating in daily meetings to communicate issues and deviations to the plan along with courses of corrective action.
