Objectives

I want to work for a company and give my all to make the company better and improve myself. I have had my own business in the past, and I know clearly what it takes to be a great employee. I am anxious to find a company or organization where I can make an impact and place myself in a position where I can be appreciated and potentially advance as new opportunities might arise.

Professional Experience

Florida Community Health Center - West Palm Beach, FL – 02/2017- Present

Maintenance Supervisor

I work at an Administration building with over 100 employees. I am responsible for all interior and exterior maintenance. That involves plumbing, electrical, hanging door, blinds, lighting, sink and faucet replacement, tile work, and about anything that goes wrong.

Employment performance/strategies:

This building was bought from a company that did no upkeep. The sprinklers had not worked for two years so I started on that, replaced over 200 feet of pipe, many breaks and all bad heads, now the building has a new sprinkler system. I recently put down all new base trim and chair rail throughout the whole building. Now I am in the process of restriping the parking lot which I have never done, but always willing to take on a task.

Atlantic Pacific-Boca Raton, FL.-07/2015-06/2016

Maintenance Engineer

I worked for a condominium association doing maintenance work. We did everything from grounds maintenance, electrical, plumbing, concrete repair, sprinklers, and painting, window and door repairs. We also made different things like barriers and fences in the shop. I enjoyed woodworking so I usually took the lead in anything that had to do with carpentry.

Employment performance/strategies:

All the trees around the buildings needed to be trimmed and gutters cleaned. The company received a bid for $9000.00 from an outside company. I suggested that we could do ourselves. We rented a snorkel lift and chainsaw and went to work. I completed 17 buildings in two weeks, and felt a very big accomplishment when I was done.

Empire Janitorial-Kansas City, MO.-10/1998-11/2013

Owner/Operator:

I started my own commercial cleaning company from the ground up, and built it into a successful company with twenty-four employees serving the greater Kansas City area. Our clients ranged from small 1,000 square feet offices to 100,000 square feet entire buildings. As a company, we developed a system named JIT (Just In Time) in which my employees were given bonuses for completing project on time and following best practices.

Employment performance/strategies:

I established processes that resulted in a savings of twenty percent average per year on our contracts which resulted in lower overhead and expenses for the company, and thereby allowed us to give back to the employees. We specialized in commercial, retail, industrial, commercial cleanup, carpet cleaning, and floor care. We also provided facilities maintenance to many of our clients, from outside lawn care to inside structural changes from moving walls, light electrical and plumbing, to installing tile and carpet.

Sony Electronics-Kansas City, MO.- 07/1996-09/2000

Facilities Maintenance Manager:

I worked for Sony Electronics part time as a facilities manager to ensure functionality of the building environment by integrating people, places, processes and technology. For those jobs I could not complete by myself, I would manage sub-contractors such as HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Networking, Janitorial, to any warehouse issues that needed to be addressed.

Employment performance/strategies:

I worked with the owners of the building and with the president and vice president of Sony parts to make the layout of the building better to include more employees in a “feel more comfortable atmosphere”. We improved the outside appeal to include new landscaping and an outside gym and walking track. I also handled everyday tasks meeting the demands to always make things more comfortable for the employees and managers. This was a great place to work, with beautiful buildings and facilities which were very important to me.

Trans World Airlines-Kansas City, MO.-02/1987-10/1998

Employee: Mechanic/ maintenance department

I started working with TWA right after my high school graduation, and I worked in several positions starting in the mail room and moving my way up to mechanic in two years. I was with the company for eleven years. I was a dedicated employee that gave my all.

Employment performance/strategies:

I worked my way up from the mailroom through distributing, janitor, fleet service, and eventually moving after two years into the mechanical/maintenance department. I worked for the remaining nine years of my tenure in the mechanical/maintenance department performing general aircraft maintenance at the overhaul base in Kansas City.
