Feb 2020 – August 2020 Owner – Manager of Cre8YourDesign, Chorley, Lancashire - Position: Owner

Throughout lockdown it was very difficult for those isolating to celebrate occasions with others on their birthdays, anniversaries, special occasions etc. as buying a card was difficult. With this in mind, I established a new business called “Cre8YourDesign” which was a service providing personalised messages and poems to family and friends via postcards or electronically.

My responsibilities included:

To promote my business, I set up a Facebook and Etsy account and marketed this service through other social media sites.

Designed each message from personalised profiles of people holding hands together. To do this I had to match the best possible profile to suit the people on the messages from the colour of hair, body, background etc. This service required skills such as creativity, attention to detail with an eye for design.

My experience at Cre8Design:

It showed me the value of life through the difficult times that Coronavirus presented, and how we must stretch out to others and support each other.

August 2017 – December 2019 Owner – Manager - Piggie Palace Hotel, Chorley, Lancashire - Position: Owner

In 2017, I realised there was a gap in the market for guinea pig boarding, so I decided to set up my very own business at the age of 11 years old. I started by researching local pet boarding in the area of Chorley, Preston and Bolton, online pet services and created a Business Plan. My business name was "Piggie Palace Hotel" which offered luxury boarding for guinea pigs so they could have a holiday too.

My responsibilities included:

To promote my business, I designed my very own business Facebook page and marketed my business online via social media.

To separate my business from other similar services, I offered additional benefits of using my service such as luxury baths, piggy manicures, grooming, spot treatments etc.

In addition to social media, I designed flyers to provide to pet shops and local establishments for maximum exposure.

I offered discount vouchers for customers for repeat business and placed customer comments on my Facebook page.

I was talent spotted by Lancashire TV for my entrepreneurial skills and was filmed by Lancashire TV at my house and then it went viral on the BBC Facebook page with 374k views across the world.

My experience at Piggie Palace Hotel:

Starting my own business required hard work and dedication, working all hours to ensure that the guinea pigs were healthy, well fed and safe which was a great responsibility. It taught me how to think outside the box by looking at other ways I could make my business different from other boarding facilities in my area. This experience showed that I was hardworking and highly motivated to ensure a constant flow of customers and had the drive and determination to succeed whilst focusing on achieving the best I can.
