Career achievements

While working as the turn-a-coordinator and planner, I was asked by the complex manager if I thought I could cut two days off of the schedule. We managed to complete the last hot alignment and get the blower and turbine re-coupled just minutes before the reaction furnace blower was required. (1998)

I was asked by the Wascana IT department to represent the company at a Computerized Maintenance Management System Workshop. I had about 15 minutes notice that I would be doing this. I successfully convinced the other participants from the company that the Datastream MP2 software was the best package to go with. It was a very interesting workshop. (1997)

When I hired on as day team leader / mechanical technician, I was always amazed at the Ingersoll Rand KVSR compressor configurations. I got upper management permission to bring in an outside company to model the compressor configuration and then model it with what I had in mind. It was a hard sell to management but I was given the permission to go ahead with the changes. We were runing 4 KVSR compressors, with 3 integral compressors on each engine, I had new compressor pistons manufactured and installed and when the unit was put back in service, the second unit which was compressing gas from the same field was shutdown without any loss in production. I was told to go ahead with the modifications to the other 3 units, and in the end we were only running two machines. The savings was in the millions. Was asked to put on a presentation for management from the Calgary office. (1996)

Received recognition for correcting a problem with centrifugal oil filters (spinners) on the White Superior Diesel Engines.

Received another one for the introducing reverse dial alignment procedures to the existing maintenance staff and providing the on-the-job training. (1993-1994)

Designed the new compressor lube oil metering system for the two re-staged, six throw Delaval Compressors.

Upon completion of the two stage project, I was asked by Shell Canada to re-write the Operations Training System manual depicting all the changes in the station operations from a single stage compressor station to a two stage operation. (1989-1993)

Resolved an issue with mechanical seals on Hayward Gordon Sulphur transfer pumps. It was common practice to change two seals a month in this application, I obtained 9 months of operation resulting in the cancellation of a major project to install pit pumps. (1986)
