Stylist March 2021 – Present

– As a stylist, I am responsible for taking care of my client from when they arrive until they depart. I greet them in the lobby and make sure they feel at home for the duration of their visit.

– At times, being a stylist is like being a good therapist. You must be in tune to your client at all times. Their mood, body language, what they are NOT telling you in order to get your client to have the exact experience they not only want but they need.

– I am responsible for taking care of my clients’ beauty needs. Paperwork to keep up with inventory and what I have done to said client for their next appointment.

– As an opener/closer, I was responsible for opening the salon and closing the salon for the day, including counting down the cash drawer and closing out the credit card machine

– Taking care of the client’s needs first and foremost from the greeting when they come in to saying goodbye and hoping to see them again. While delivering the best service possible while they are there.

– Cutting, coloring, waxing, demonstrating products for clients’ hair, for up sale

– Taking care of the banking needs for the salon when needed

– Answering the phone, taking calls and explaining scheduling for all stylists

– Helping in training of new stylist that falls back on my Technical Training position from my previous employment with Supercuts.

Goulds Academy Memphis, TN

Junior Instructor August 2018 – January 2019

While healing from a broken shoulder, I worked for a few months as a Junior Instructor at the local Cosmetology Academy until such time as I could return to the workforce in my licensed field of cosmetology.

– Planned classes for students via lesson plans that went hand-in-hand with State of TN testing guidelines.

– Helped supervise students as they worked on clients.

– Learned how to become a licensed instructor in the State of Tennessee

– Delivered excellent customer service to all clients that came into the school for salon services.

The W Salon Memphis, TN

Cosmetologist Stylist/Owner (Booth Renter) July 2013 – February 2018

– Handled all client calls to schedule appointments for services and assuring all clients left satisfied

– Managed inventory and supplies required for the operation of the business

– Processed payroll, taxes, and social security for all independent contractors within the business

– Worked with social media, referrals and walk-ins for advertising and to attract potential new business

– Excellent work ethic and provided top notch service with all returning clients

– Known for always going the “extra mile” for all clients

I left due to breaking my shoulder that took almost a year to heal.

– Part time job as part of a team that ran the Drug General Merchandise department.

– Responsible for stocking the shelves with non-food items

I loved this job because it allowed me to be around and help people in a different environment than cosmetology. However, my salon business was growing and I needed to focus more on that.
