Job Title: Encode. Job description: The Encoder works at the Merge Center where the conveyor belts or lines merge together. Key in batches of freight on the computer so the computer knows where the freight is going. The freight comes to Encode on two lines where the Encoder slows the lines down manually so they can handle each piece of freight individually making sure each piece goes label up under a laser scanner telling the computer which shipping lane the freight is going to. Job Title: Jam Runner. Job description: The lines leading to the Merge Center and the lines heading to shipping often become jammed with freight clogging the lines so the Jam Runner would have to run to wherever these jams occurred to clear the lines of freight and get production rolling again.
