Won a University Business Linkage (UBL) competitive research grant amounting to 100,000.00 LKR from the University of Jaffna for developing a "smart faucet."

Won the Gold Medal in the Island-wide Invention and Innovation Competition titled "SAHASAK NIMAVUM-2020" for an "automated hand washing station" under the 'public works and infrastructure engineering' subcategory of University and Tertiary Educational Institutes in the year 2020. The competition was organized by the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission (SLIC) in Colombo-05 on June 26, 2020. The awarding ceremony took place on December 16, 2021, at the Main Auditorium of the National Institute of Business Management, Vidya Mawatha, Colombo-07.

Won the Silver Medal in the Island-wide Invention and Innovation Competition titled "Junior Inventor of the Year-2010," organized by the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka, Colombo-03 on September 18, 2010, for the innovative model house "Future Plan to Design a Nature-Friendly House."

Description:

Proper Hand hygiene became the fundamental requirement of personal hygiene after this COVID19 pandemic. This sensor based smart faucet is designed to dispense water and liquid washing agents in a proper time interval in order to maintain a regulated handwashing with null contamination. It could be programmed as per WHO guidelines for hand washing. Through this regularized system, water and soap wastage can be reduced while executing proper handwashing with minimal contamination.
