Elkhart, In.; January 2010 to Present

Operations Manager – Responsible for the total manufacturing operations of a small book bindery including scheduling, purchasing, materials management, inventory control and customer service. Duties include shipping and receiving, human resource management and the hiring process, maintenance and the direct supervision of four associates.

Reduced inventory and saved $20K annually with an extensive historical and current experience study on sales. Eliminated outdated inventory and the need for overnight shipments on critical items allowing for timely shipping of customer product.

Purchased and rebuilt used collating equipment that saved $3K and improved production on a 50K book order.

Improved quality by developing a weighing method that insured high quality book collating and eliminated customer returns.

Developed production method for Wire-O binding with a production rate comparable to automatic equipment saving $22K in equipment cost.

Purchased used tooling and rebuilt for $150 to improving production by 50% and saving $5K annually.

Supervisor II – Responsible for supervising up to seven employees in a plastic extrusion operation that manufactures pre-finished moulding for the housing industry. Supervised one maintenance mechanic to insure continuous operation and request work to be done on other maintenance and safety issues.

Duties included quality assurance checks every two hours and attending quality audit meetings, monitoring of machine schedules with recommendations. Our goal to maintain a perfect on time delivery record. Daily checks were made to ensure tooling was ordered in a timely manner and work orders issued to clean tooling as required. I also conducted weekly tailgate meetings and monthly safety meeting to meet company safety metrics. I also did monthly inventory of raw materials. My HR duties were to monitor vacation and personal holiday requests and review employees annually.

Compounding Manager – Responsible for scheduling and planning of batches to be produced. Wrote SOP’s, assigned tasks for building and equipment maintenance Conducted GMP, SOP and equipment training of associates. Maintained inventory and ordered supplies. QC responsibilities included verifying addition of controlled substances and determining batch yields. GMP responsibilities included maintaining equipment and training logs, equipment inspection and maintaining FIFO of raw materials and reviewing batch records.

Saved $100K annually in direct labor and overtime with the establishment of standards for batch mixing process on 25 different products. Verified actual labor costs by time study and adjusted cost standards for new pricing policy.

Developed a cleaning method which resolved a problem rejection rate by bacteria contamination.

APEX PHARMACEUTICALS

Bulk Supervisor – Responsible for scheduling, raw material requisitioning, inventory control, troubleshooting, and associate training in the Bulk Production Department. Duties included supervising up to 15 employees on second shift in the manufacturing of tablets and liquids and coordinating with QA to insure adequate staffing for production and product testing and maintaining GMP standards on the production floor. QC responsibilities included making weight and hardness testing of tablets, weight checks of capsules, moisture checks of granulation and verifying raw material additions and product yield of liquid products. GMP responsibilities included maintaining equipment logs, equipment inspection and reviewing batch records.

Established valve tagging system and valve diagram for liquid products reducing errors due to improper valve settings and eliminating product loss and saving $100K per year.

Improved material handling by initiating the use of pallet dollies reducing production delays in critical areas.

Implemented and monitored employee training log to insure that employees were adequately trained in all jobs in the department, therefore decreasing productivity losses.
