Resume:

To Whom It May Concern:

I am a bright mathematician who is adept at understanding the many facets of statistics. Statistics is as much an art as it is a science and is quite different compared to other branches of mathematics. There is the task of finding cause and effect. There is the challenge of distinguishing populations. There are myriad ways of creating a model. These are not insignificant issues. Many experts misunderstand p-values and corresponding interpretations. In fact, I have a video regarding p- values on my YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWU0pUGWnefU5MeGMQoLIAg). I ask that you give this consideration.

My nature is to think. I use python to create models for the stock market. I am an avid fan of backgammon. I have an affinity for understanding math related concepts. Respectfully, whoever reads this, I ask that you make it a point to hire the person that will be of most value to this role.

Sincerely,

John Grenci

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

AK STEEL Butler, PA 2014-2021

Quality Analyst Engineer

Created SAS programs for regression models that would minimize core loss in electrical steel. This involved advanced logistic modeling along with brainstorming sessions that weeded out unreasonable inferences that a model might have found. These models incorporated training and test sets. For example, a training data set might have suggested a hot mill temperature at x degrees to reduce core loss, and if the test set confirmed this finding, it was likely put into action.

Used Microsoft Access to create summaries for steel coils. The variables included, among others, the coil itself (which was a 12,000-sheet piece of steel) along with the inspector, the unit (for example, hot mill), and the defect. Just about every piece of steel had some type of defect.

HIGHMARK Pittsburgh, PA 2013-2014

Quality Analyst

Implemented SAS programs that anticipated and reduced the likelihood of issues occurring with pregnant women by taking proactive and well-informed steps. UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH MEDICAL CENTER Pittsburgh, PA 2011-2013 Business Analyst

Conceptualized ways to assist physicians in gaining efficiencies in patient care, resulting in significant cost savings. This involved analyzing the propensity for patients to have illnesses and hence the need for a doctor’s visit. This was based on previous history of a combination of illnesses. It allowed a doctor to anticipate certain illnesses, and this resulted in minimal visits and “cast a wider net” for doctors to detect illnesses (i.e. doctors found more illnesses because they anticipated certain illnesses).

Effectively employed SQL to read/analyze large data sets, as to review factors related to health insurance.

Provided analytical support tools used as the basis for critical decisions and strategies.

Utilized advanced Excel including pivot tables and graphs. Education Management Corporation Pittsburgh, PA 2009-2010 Business Analyst
