“Forever New” is Indochine’s own Retail High Fashion business having more than 290

stores all over the world. It’s an Australian brand with more than 120 stores itself and main

production hub in China. Some specific styles or categories are produced also in

Indonesia, Cambodia and Bangladesh in order to make them cost effective. Indochine

is also having its own production unit in China with 1400 stitching machines producing

6.5 million pcs annually.

Joined as an Account Manager to handle production and delivery of the dress category (woven +

Knits), which is the prime/face category of the business with a team of 6 people. During

Sept 2011 accepted the challenge to take over the R&D of the Dress category with the

same team to enhance buyer’s understanding and requirement from the scratch to

the bulk shipment, also making the same team more efficient and cost effective.

Feb 2012 accepted the challenge of handling the Jumpsuit Category with addition of

1 more merchant within the team.

March 2013 accepted the challenge of handling Resorts category with the same team.

Dec 2013 accepted to take over Playsuit with an addition of 1 more Merchant in the team

Oct 2014 accepted to take over Shorts category with an addition on 2 more person in the team.

Leading a team of 10 members, 3 Sr. Merchants, 4 Merchants and 3 Asst Merchants.

At any given moment of time handling more than 300 PO’s, with 200 styles in one

season (3 months). Each Month shipping approx.70 to 80 styles across all 4 categories

worth $ 6.5 million/month, annually $ 78 million above (FOB value)

Each month shipping approx. 240,000 pcs and annually approx. 3 million pcs.

Handling 22 suppliers (factories) within Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Hubei and Anhui province.

Making sure to book production capacity within them in advance and choosing the

Right supplier for the Right Product at the Right Price.

Communicating directly with the buying team to understand the forecast and accordingly

guide the R&D team to source various fabrics, trims and accessories. Helping the R&D

team and pushing the sample room to get the right samples to achieve the sign off target

given by the buyers along with a rough cost. Quoting and confirming delivery dates

with the buyer’s.

Weekly T&A is send to the buyer mentioning dips, bulk, fits approval status etc. Also

regular VC is conducted to intimate the buyer for pending issues.

Weekly team meeting is conducted along with technical team and QC team to

see the challenges we need to resolve.

Guiding merchants to take correct consumption of fabrics, trims and embroidery

materials to book for bulk production.

Working on technical/comment sheets received from buyer. Making team effort and

setting a bridge between merchandisers and QC team.

All samples going to buyer are reviewed for construction styling/fit/fall/wash and

hand feel along with the garment technician.

Guiding Merchants in making decisions regarding fabric approval, Fit comments,

size sets, embroidery mocks, setting color combos etc.

To held pre-production meetings with production heads for reviewing

styles and deciding its various stages (example- block cutting or fix

cutting, embroidery on block or embroidery after stitching).

Discovering the critical areas in cutting, sewing, embroidery, finishing & packing and

if any change is required for production feasibility, to convince the buyer to agree on the changes.

Making sure of handing over correct and accurate QC/production files to the QC team so that

they can follow the production to their best of knowledge.

Following up with the team for Initial, Mid and Final inspections. Making sure PPM is conducted smoothly and all QC reports are thoroughly studied by the merchandising team and brought to

my notice if there are any concerns which needs to action with immediate effect.

R&D:

# Style R&D: Anticipating the critical areas in cutting, sewing, embroidery, finishing & packing and if any change is required, to request the buyer for that.

# Fabric R&D: Studying the different quality of fabrics used in styles, and accordingly taking measures for sourcing and calculating the time factor required for bulk production of the fabrics.

# Accessory R&D: Discovering the critical possible problems in sourcing or procuring particular bead, sequins, thread etc and accordingly discussing the same with the store department.

# Embroidery R&D: Identifying the different stages of embroidery i.e. machine, adda, hand, computer etc and also making the production department aware of the problems that might arise during bulk production.

# Stitching R&D: During making fit samples or size sets, proper monitoring is done from cutting to embroidery to stitching to washing\dry cleaning. This helps to provide with adequate information regarding the stages of a particular style, which is forwarded to the production department.

# Shrinkage R&D: Checking fabric shrinkage after washing or dry cleaning and accordingly adding shrinkage margin on patterns with consultation of pattern master. Checking garment shrinkage after washing and dry cleaning with QA department.

# Fit samples: Following up on the fit samples with relevant merchant, making sure of the comments received or tech pack received from buyer is truly incorporated during fit samples. Getting approval on fit samples from the buyer

# Size Sets : Sending correct size sets to buyer and getting approval on the same from the buyer.
